Japan's promotion pre -printing book is facing obstacles

On June 6, the official website of \"Nature\" published a news that Japan launched the country's first pre -printed server -JXIV. But at present, the number of theories on the platform is small, and its promotion is blocked.

Pre -printing this server is an online archive or database of some networks. It mainly stores academic papers or data that has not been received by traditional academic journals. The pre -print on the server did not be edited and typically before the release. India, Russia, China, and Indonesia have their own pre -printing servers. Among them, some well -known servers usually focus on a specific academic field, such as pre -printing the server ARXIV mainly covers physics and mathematical publications. The number of papers published in Japan is among the best in the world, but Japanese researchers usually do not share the early versions of the paper on the pre -printing server. The launch of JXIV is to fill this gap.

The academic community has some concerns about the pre -printing server. For example, if the thesis is not standardized edited and peer evaluation, some low -quality research cannot be eliminated. Since the official operation in March, the number of papers that JXIV has uploaded less than 40, which caused doubts. Some researchers believe that Japanese culture is more conservative compared to Western culture, and no many people may evaluate the manuscripts on the pre -printed server. Moreover, if the research results themselves are excellent, the evaluation and publishing process will be very fast, and the pre -printing server is not necessary for rapid communication research results.

JXIV supporters believe that the advantages of pre -printing this server are greater than the disadvantages, and the platform will become more and more popular. Especially in the case of government support, the platform can spread Japanese science to international audiences and promote cooperation with Japanese scientists and international colleagues. In addition, researchers often publish early manuscripts on the pre -printed server to obtain peer reviews. This informal peer review can reduce the workload of future journal colleagues.
