Stekin said that she would believe in British Prime Minister Johnson to seek approval for consultation referendum. But she has also launched a plan to obtain legal authorization as a referendum to prevent Johnson from trying to stop the matter. She emphasized that any referendum must be "incomparable and legal" and conforming to the Constitution. The British Supreme Court will be asked to decide whether the Scottish local government has the right to hold an independent referendum without the approval of the British government.
Stekin told the members in the Scottish Parliament that "(Scottish) independence cannot be suppressed and must be resolved through democratic ways. What I do not want to and never do is to allow Scotland democracy to become Johnson or prisoner of any prime minister of any prime minister. She also said, "It's time now."
Reuters reports that Scotland has a population of about 5.5 million. In the independent referendum in 2014, 55%of people supported in the UK and 45%of them opposed it. However, the local government of Scotland said that the Brexit "Brexit" means that the second referendum must be held on Scotland's independence. Brexit has been opposed by most Scottish.
Johnson and its British ruling party conservative party strongly opposed the second referendum, saying that the problem had been resolved in 2014. The British government had previously refused to initiate a referendum to authorize the Scottish Parliament to authorize the Scottish Parliament in accordance with Article 30 of the Scottish Act, and said earlier on the 28th that the main priority of the United Kingdom was the economic pressure facing the country. Johnson's spokesman subsequently reiterated that the British government believes that it is not time to discuss the referendum again.
In addition, in response to the above -mentioned plans of Stergin, the Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross said that the referendum "is a wrong priority for Scotland" and will hinder Scotland's recovery from the new crown pneumonia. He accused the chief minister of Stekin "forcibly" let the parliament talk about the "obsession" of the Scottish National Party's "obsession" of independent referendum again. Ross said, "When we have to do what you do, we will not participate in a counterfeit voting."
