The wildfire occurred around 8 pm on June 21, and the fire was ignited near the forest land near Malmaris on the coast of the Aegean Sea. The reason for the fire was unclear.

Forestry Minister Wahite Kiriei said that the fire had been controlled, but due to the strong wind and hot weather, the fire spread again. He also said that as a preventive measure, about 150 people were evacuated and involved 51 houses, and about 2600 people were working hard to control the fire.

The Turkish Forestry Administration stated that there were 27 helicopters participating in the fire on June 23 and 14 aircraft.
