Snowden has a Russian nationality!

Russian President Putin signed an order on the 26th and decided to give a number of people, including Edward Snowden, an employee of former US defense contractors, Russian citizenship.

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov told the media on the same day that Snowden had previously submitted an application for nationality to Russia. In addition, Putin did not meet with Snowden.

In 2013, Snowden revealed the US government's extensive listening to domestic and foreign telephones and monitoring Internet communication content through the media, which caused a stir in the international community. The U.S. government subsequently issued a wanted crime of spy, theft, and unauthorized leakage of national defense and intelligence information. Since then, Snowden has been permitted by Russian refuge and has lived in Russia for many years. In November 2020, Snowden said in social media that he would apply for Russian citizenship.
