The referendum results show that about 50.6%of voters support the retirement age of women from the age of 64 to 65. After this proposal is passed, the retirement age of Swiss women will be consistent with men.

Swiss officials said that the number of retirees is constantly increasing, and the proportion of workers who provide funding sources for the national pension system and are still active in the workplace are constantly falling in the population. According to the Swiss Federal Social Insurance Bureau forecast, if measures are not taken to develop, then from 2029, endowment insurance will inevitably begin deficits.

Swiss authorities have previously stated that raising the retirement age will save about $ 5 billion in the next ten years, and increased value -added tax will supplement about $ 12.6 billion in pension funds.

But opponents said that the compensation obtained by Swiss women is usually lower than men, and raising retirement age will exacerbate inequality. According to data from the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Switzerland, in 2020, Swiss women received nearly 35%less pensions than men.

Since 1995, all the reform proposals involving the pension insurance system in the Swiss referendum ended with rejection by voters. However, the motion of raising women's retirement age and increasing value -added tax was successfully passed in this referendum with a faint advantage of 50.6%and 55.1%, respectively.

On the 25th, Swiss voters also voted for dense animal husbandry and tax cuts for investors. None of these two proposals were supported by citizens: the proportion of opposition votes was 62.9%and 52%, respectively.
