Russian Parliament legislation, simplify foreigners' service for military service and obtain Russian citizenship procedures

According to media reports such as Russia, the Russian Federal Council (Parliament's upper court) passed the law on Wednesday (September 21), stipulating that foreigners who were serving in the Russian military service obtained a simplified procedure for Russian citizenship.

It is reported that the new regulations are applicable to foreign citizens who sign with the Russian army at least one year of military service. Now, they can apply for a Russian citizenship without providing a residence permit or not in Russia for 5 consecutive years. In addition, the law stipulates that the first military service contract that foreigners can sign for one year is 1 year, and the shortest time of such contracts before is 5 years.

Earlier on Tuesday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyaning announced that the Moscow government will set up a comprehensive infrastructure at the Saharawald Immigration Center to assist the Russian Ministry of Defense to organize foreign citizens to register for military service. He said that the Moscow's service department will do everything possible to allow foreigners to sign relevant contracts as conveniently as possible.

Russian media said that the Russian country Duma (the lower courtyard of the parliament) has passed the law on September 20. The law is now signed by the Russian president. (Edit: HHJ)
