Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, September 21st, Hurricane "Fiona" landed on the 18th to the US overseas Puerto Rico, and the island was completely powered off. As of the 20th local time, the island is still in a large area of power outage.
Hurricanes are coming, and netizens have posted on overseas social platforms, hoping that family and friends will be good. But at the same time, many netizens started to scold the US government.
It is a natural disaster and human disaster
On September 20, 2017, Puerto Rico encountered a level 4 hurricane "Maria" and a large area of power outage appeared. At that time, the public called for improving the power system. I never thought that the privatized prescriptions prescribed by the US government not only failed to get the medicine to get rid of the disease, but instead aggravated the "condition" and the people's grievances. The "Fiona" landed in Puerto Rico, causing large -scale power outages. After the hurricane landing, Roma Energy Company, the only power operation company in Puerto Rico, posted on Twitter to inform users that "it may take a few days to fully restore power supply" and hope that users will give "support and patience".

However, the patience of netizens has obviously been exhausted. Such a large power outage, they had experienced too many times before the hurricane came.
Many netizens line up directly in Luma Energy Company to express their anger.
After anger, netizens pointed their finger at Puerto Rico's privatization of power operations.
"Powerout every day"
The dissatisfaction of the Puerto Rico's power supply system mainly comes from frequent large -scale power outages, as well as rising electricity prices.
Puerto Rico singer Bad Bunny posted a 22 -minute video on the 16th, named "Dash Power shutdown". The video style shows the hardships of Puerto Rico's frequent power outage to the people.
According to local media reports, since the Luma Energy Corporation settled in Puerto Rico, large and small power outage occurs every day in different regions. In April 2021, a large -scale power outage occurred in Puerto Rico. In August of the same year, the power supply problem caused a local hospital for nearly 20 hours.
Despite the frequent power outages, electricity prices have continued to rise. According to local media reports, since the operation of Luma Energy Company, more than 14 months of electricity prices have risen 7 times. Many netizens have exposed their overwhelming electricity bills on social media.

In addition to expressing dissatisfaction on the Internet, the Puerto Ricans took the streets and organized large -scale protests to ask the government to cancel contracts with Luma Energy Company and criticize the privatization of power operations to deprive their happy life.

Power privatization is a "error"
According to the company's official website, Luma Energy Corporation was established by the US quantum energy service company and the Canadian Atco Industry Corporation in Puerto Rico. Behind the company's settlement is the leading and promotion of the privatization of Puerto Rico's power system in the United States.
After the hurricane landing, a netizen of Puerto Rico sent the power of power off the island to the Twitter account to protest the consequences of the privatization of the United States for imposing to Puerto Rico's power system. (Twitter screenshot)
In 2015, Puerto Rico's debt was $ 72 billion, and debt defaults were imminent. However, due to the identity of its US territory, it was impossible to enjoy the right to apply for bankruptcy protection in accordance with the US bankruptcy law regulations. In order to obtain additional support from the Federal Government and Congress, Puerto Rico had to whisper and accept the privatization "prescription" issued by the other party to launch a debt restructuring procedure similar to the US municipal bankruptcy protection.
In 2016, the U.S. Congress passed the Puerto Rico Supervision, Management and Economic Stability Law, and established the Puerto Rico Financial Supervision and Management Committee according to this. A total of eight members of the committee, seven of them were appointed by the US president, and the last member came from the Governor of Puerto Rico, but did not enjoy the right to vote.
The bill gives the financial supervision and management committees quite strong power. The Governor of Puerto Rico and the Bodo Legislative Department have no right to control, review and supervise the committee itself and its actions.
Just a few months after its establishment, the committee submitted a recommendation list claiming to improve the local economic situation in December 2016, and made it clear that Puerto Rico responded to some government assets such as energy.
Under the endorsement of the committee, Luma Energy Company won the bidding of Puerto Rico's power supply network operator in 2020 and obtained a contract with a validity period of up to 15 years, and agreed that as long as the two parties agreed to renew the contract. After 12 months of transfer, Luma Energy Co., Ltd. officially took over Puerto Rico Grid business on June 1, 2021.
In less than half a month after Roma's energy took over, there was a large -scale power outage and a substation explosion in Puerto Rico, which was affected by millions of people.
In the view of the Nobel Prize in Economics, Stiglitz, the Puerto Rico Supervision, Management and Economic Stability Law brought more problems instead of solutions to Puerto Rico.
The privatization of Phantom Electricity, some netizens played a homophonic stalk, and some of them made sarcastic comics.
In August 2022, a netizen painted a blood -sucking bat by Roma Energy Company, using a straw to suck the Puerto Rico people from the Puerto Rico.(Screenshot of the webpage) The new liberal reforms advocated by the United States have brought evil results to the Latin America and Caribbean regions, causing the financial crisis, magnifying the gap between the rich and the poor, and causing social turmoil, but American companies have made a lot of money.
