The latest report shows that about 153 million tons of food in the European Union is wasted each year, which is twice that of previous estimates, 15 million tons more than imported foods. The amount of wheat that isted in the European Union alone is equivalent to about half of the Ukrainian wheat exports, and it is equivalent to a quarter of other EU grain exports.

The person in charge of the report research, Frank Michelson, said: "At the moment when the price of food prices and the increasing life cost crisis, the EU threw away foods may be more than importing. This is a scandal."

He suggested that the European Union should now set a goal with legal binding power. By 2030, the food from farm to table will be a waste of half to halves to cope with climate change and improve food safety.

According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) data, global food prices rose 8%over a year ago, partly due to the Russian -Ukraine conflict.

The prices of wheat, corn and soybeans this year even exceeded the record of the most serious period of the World Financial Crisis in 2008.

Balzak, a senior policy official of the European Environment (EEB), said: "All EU countries have promised to waste food by halving food within the scope of the UN sustainable development goals. There has been."

It is estimated that 20%of EU food production is wasted each year, causing a loss of 143 billion euros to EU companies and families each year. Food waste accounts for at least 6%of EU greenhouse gas emissions.

As early as May of this year, the World Nature Foundation issued a report that some EU people used the Russian -Ukraine conflict to lead to the shortage of global food supply and continuously reduce the EU's own environmental protection standards. In fact, this shortage is related to the excessive consumption of resources in the EU itself.

The EU has always claimed to be "feeding the world" by its developed agriculture, but the actual situation is to "eat the world" because its huge food is consumed, because EU food imports are much more exported than exports, which causes a heavy burden on the global ecological environment.

The report wrote that "EU's food imports and production invading natural resources and driving global forests and damaging fish resources." As many as 40%of the food produced by EU countries, the climate and ecological diversity are therefore a huge price.

Another report published in the magazine of "Natural Food" on Monday estimates that the prices of corn and wheat in the next year may rise by 4.6%and 7.2%, respectively, which will further increase carbon emissions.
