According to Reuters on September 14, recently, an Egyptian high court maintained a decision to expel a teacher from a local university. It is reported that the teacher previously posted a video of belly dance on social platforms.

It is understood that Mona Prince was originally an English lecturer at Suez Canal University in Egypt. In 2017, she posted a video on her personal social account. In the video, she was wearing traditional Egyptian costumes and danced on the terrace.

This video caused a lot of controversy at the time. According to Arab state -owned television reports, many Egyptian people posted on social media that Prince's move harmed the image of the teacher's profession and violated the social tradition. After that, some of Prince's students also complained that part of her teachings before class caused damage to religious values. In the end, Prince was fired by the school.

In this regard, the Supreme Court of Egypt said that Prince violated the relevant regulations, "((she) deviates from academic courses and spreads the idea of ​​violation of beliefs and public order."

In addition, the Statement of the Egyptian Supreme Administrative Court also mentioned that Prince released and shared the video of belly dance "the reputation of the university professor and did not bear the responsibility of guiding (correct) values."

The report pointed out that the judgment of the Egyptian Supreme Administrative Court was "final decision", which means that Prince may not work in private or public universities in the future. In this regard, Prince refused to comment and stated that the court's verdict made her sad for Egypt, "sadness for our history, civilization and culture."
