Gustavo Petro, elected!

The preliminary coupon results announced by the Civil Registry of Columbia National Civil Registration showed that the left -wing campaign "Colombian History Convention Alliance" candidate Gustov Petro won the second round of voting in the second round of the Columbia Presidential Election of the day.

According to statistics from 99.57%of votes, Petro and independent candidates Rudorph Elnands' votes were 50.48%and 47.26%, respectively, and Petro led nearly 720,000 votes.

After the victory, Petro made a speech saying that this was the victory of the Columbia people. Colombian President Duker congratulated Petro to win, saying that he would soon meet Petro and launch a harmonious and transparent transitional process.

Elnands made a speech and acknowledged defeat on the same day.

Petro was born in 1960 and served as a senator, a member of the Republic of China, and the mayor of Bogo. While serving as the mayor of Bogo, he vigorously promoted the fight against corruption and the construction of public cause. Petro participated in the presidential election twice in 2010 and 2018.

The first round of the Columbia Presidential Election was held on May 29. Petro and Elanders received 40.32%and 28.15%, respectively, ranking among the top two. Because both of them did not get more than half of the votes, they entered the second round of voting of the presidential election held on June 19.
