Gorbachev was born on March 2, 1931, and since March 1985, he has served as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. From May 1989 to March 1990, he served as the top Soviet Chairman of the Soviet Union. He served as the Soviet President from March 1990 to December 1991. He was the first and last president in Soviet history. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1991, Gorbachev was mainly engaged in social and literary activities.
