Xinhua News Agency, Baghdad, August 29 (Reporter Fan Shuai Shuai Dong Yalei) Iraq joint action command issued a statement on the 29th announced that it will be implemented from the same day to cope with the current protest upgrade.
The statement stated that it started a curfew on all provinces nationwide at 7 pm local time until it was notified separately. At 3:30 pm on the same day, the capital Baghdad had started a curfew and prohibited vehicles and citizens from going out.
Earlier that day, Sader, a religious leader in Shiites, Iraqi, said in social media that "I decided not to interfere with political affairs and announced retirement." The relevant institutions he led by the "Sader Movement" will also be closed. Earlier, Sader has called for the dissolution of the National Assembly and re -elected to break the long -term stalemate for several months.
After Sader's latest statement, the protests that lasted a month have suddenly upgraded. A large number of Sader's supporters pushed the roadblocks in Baghdad's "Green Area", and forced the government building, including the Republic's Palace. Subsequently, the Iraqi Prime Minister Cadi Mi issued a statement calling on the demonstrators to keep restraint, immediately withdraw from the "green area", and abide by the instructions of the security forces.
In October last year, Iraq held a new election of the National Assembly. Of the total 329 seats, the "Sader Movement" won 73 seats and became the largest party of the parliament. On June 12 this year, the "Sader Movement" member resigned collectively due to failure to form a majority of governments as expected. Since then, the political group led by Sader's opponent in the Shiite camp has become the largest party of the parliament, and the party's intentional selection of the new prime minister has been opposed by Sader. Starting from the end of July, Sader's supporters have launched demonstrations in many provinces in Iraq due to protests nominated by the new Prime Minister's candidate.
