The union FNV, CNV, and VVMC reports that NS staff will strike from next Wednesday. The strike lasted for five days and started in different areas every day from northern Netherlands.
After NS rejected the ultimatum that the union involved in collective labor agreement negotiations, negotiations stopped last Friday.
The union requires NS to pay the total monthly salary of employees by 100 euros, and the hourly salary should also reach at least 14 euros. They also asked NS to provide subsidies for inflation since 2023 and pay 600 euros at one time.
FNV Spoor's collective labor agreement negotiation representative, Huub van dungen, said: "NS makes this incident unable to execute and cannot be understood. We have no choice but to take more practical plans and actions, such as strike."
Strikes nationwide?
The National Security Agency said that the strike operation was disappointing. "Now it is too early to say what impact on travelers, but we will notify it in time," a spokesman said.
The National Security Agency also said that they understand the concerns of NS staff. But: "Due to the decrease in passengers after the new crown epidemic, NS's financial situation is very difficult, and pointed out to the union that their requirements will eventually lead to wage growth higher than 20%." NS hopes to continue to negotiate with the union in the short term.
If the NS management does not meet the conditions of the union, the national strike will occur in the first week of September.
