On October 30, 2021, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced at the 16th summit at the leader of the Group of Twenty Group that China had decided to apply to join DEPA. In the following two days, China officially submitted an application for joining. In the process of promoting the joining process, China and DEPA member states New Zealand, Singapore, and Chile conducted dialogue at all levels.
