The Russian Ambassador to the United States Antonov said on the 17th that the Russian Embassy in the United States has requested the US Foreign Minister Lavrov and members of the Russian delegation to issue visas to facilitate them to attend the 77th UN General Assembly held in September.

Antonov said in a program of "Russia-24" TV station that Russia asked the United States to fulfill its obligations as a UN headquarters, and immediately issued visas to Lavrov and members of the Russian delegation. Antonov said that the United States has repeatedly troubled Russian work visits, including work visits in the United Nations. The Russian side resolutely required the United States to ensure that all members of the Russian delegation attending the 77th UN General Assembly entered the United States smoothly. Antonov also said that he will go to the US State Department again on the 18th to negotiate with the United States on the visa issue of the Russian delegation.

In 1947, the Agreement of the United Nations and the United States on the United Nations Headquarters stipulated that the relevant obligations that the United States as the host needs to assume free and issue visas to relevant civil servants of member states as soon as possible. During the 74th UN General Assembly in September 2019, many members of the Russian delegation were unable to attend the meeting because they did not get a visa in time.
