South Korea's MZ generation roughly refers to the "post -80s" to "post -00s" young people.

A young man surnamed Zheng first hesitated to disclose his birthday in the circle of friends, and was worried that he had forced friends to give gifts. He later chose to celebrate the 25th birthday with public welfare donations, and as a result, he received more blessings than any previous birthday. About 45 friends donated a total of 880,000 won (about 4576 yuan). He added some more money and donated 1 million won (5,200 yuan) to a animal protection organization.

He said that this was his first birthday to have no waste of gifts.

Some charity organizations are happy to see such a way of celebration, and even add "event donations" sections on the website.
