"Japan Economic News" reported that companies receiving Russia officially notified include the purchase of the "Sahalin 2" project of Kyushu Electric Power Company and the Western Gasha Co., Ltd.

Kyushu Electric Power Corporation claimed that "received notifications from operating activities to hand over new operators"; Western Gas Co., Ltd. also confirmed that the company was studying the details.

The two Japanese companies refused to replace the operator's natural gas price and supply comment.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on June 30 to set up a new company to operate "Sahalin 2". Whether to approve.

Russia stated that this measure aims to protect the interests of Russian countries from "unfriendly behavior" from Western countries such as the United States. After Russia launched special military operations against Ukraine in late February, Japan followed the United States and European countries to impose sanctions on Russia and was listed as a "unfriendly country" by Russia.

The "Sahalin No. 2" project is located on the continental rack of the Sahalin Island of Russia. The oil reserves involved are about 100 million tons and the natural gas reserves are more than 400 billion cubic meters.
