The melting of glaciers on the Alps has caused changes in national borders between Switzerland and Italy. It turned out that in a mountain hotel in Italy, it also "drifted", which caused controversy of the hotel's location.
In 1984, an Italian businessman built a hotel called "Chelvino House". According to the national borders at that time, the 40 beds and long wooden tables in the hotel were all in Italy.
However, according to the Guardian reported on July 26, as the climate warmed, the glaciers on the Alps were constantly melting. Now two -thirds of the hotel have moved to Switzerland, including most beds and restaurants in the store.
This also confused many guests in the hotel: "Is we in Switzerland or Italy?"

According to reports, the national issues in Italy and Switzerland have been discussed for many years. After the end of World War II, the two countries decided to divide the border between the two countries in accordance with the Hildo Glacier on the Alps. However, due to the warming of the climate, the Hilso Glacier melted nearly a quarter from 1973 to 2010. Glacier melted water along the watershed from the top of the mountain to both sides. The natural division lines of the two countries have shifted, and the area of Italy has decreased accordingly.
The 51 -year -old Truko is a staff member of the Chervino hut. He believes that the hotel should still be assigned to Italy. "This hotel must belong to Italy. We were originally Italians. The menu here is Italy. The wine is Italy, and the tax is also for Italy." Truko said.
Because the Alps on the border between the two countries are one of the largest ski resorts in the world and involve the tourism industry. Since 2018, the two countries have conducted several rounds of negotiations on this issue. In November 2021, the two countries finalized an agreement in Florence, but the Swiss government has not yet stamped the agreement. A Swiss national surveying and mapping institution, Weichter, said both sides made concessions.
The disputes between the two countries have not stopped, which caused the villages around the area to be unable to apply for a construction permit. Many development projects have been put on hold. The cable car originally planned to open at the end of 2023 has also been soaked in soup.
