I liked painting since I was a child, and then I tested to read art. After graduating from college, I came to Shanghai, worked for others, made orders and paintings, earned thousands of pieces a month, and barely paid the rent and fill the stomach.

After I came out of my own business, it was very difficult. Everything from the front end to the back end was done by me alone, and I got it in the early morning to rest every morning. Although the body is tired, I am particularly happy, because I always work hard for my own ideas.

However, economical is still constrained, and you will use some old things to use and furnish at home. At the beginning, I felt that the old things were cheap, and Tao Yitao always found some very unique. Later, after seeing too much, I slowly knew the concepts of middle -aged furniture and ancient props.

Actually, I have paid attention to the interior furnishings from a very early. My father is our famous carpenter, and the big and small things at home are made by himself. There is a corner sofa that is very impressive, and asymmetric TV cabinets that are high and low on the side are rare at the time.

At that time, the handicrafts had to come to the door to make on the spot, and I often follow my dad. When I get to other people's house, I like to observe objects. I often see some furniture and utensils that I feel good. I also envy and want, but I dare not say it. I am afraid that others will feel strange. Everyone can't understand it. It is good to think that things are practical and don't pay attention to others.

The small home of 35M² is piled up with the old objects.

In 2019, the economy was slightly more amazing and bought a second -hand apartment in Shanghai. Although it is only a LOFT of 35Mo, but I have settled home and wants to arrange it well, and start to buy some medium furniture according to demand. With a piece, the feeling of the whole home is not the same, and it is addictive.

However, the price of good furniture is not close to the people, and the family can not put too much on the family, so I started to pay attention to more folk, smaller, and more diverse old objects -ancient props.

Ancient props collections

The concept of ancient road props was formed in Japan, about the mid -1970s, in fact, it refers to the old daily utensils.

There are no precious backgrounds, no special design and craftsmanship. Choosing ancient props is more about the simplicity of them, and the traces of time and history.

Use ancient road props to arrange home

It may be related to the experience since childhood. I will feel that it is too easy to produce now, and it is highly homogeneous. And even the ordinary old objects are the hard work of craftsmen, each with unique appearance and story.

In Japan, ancient props have been regarded as a style of indoor furnishings. I like to see such cases. When these ancient objects lose their original functions, and even many of them are not available, how can everyone rely on their own creativity and aesthetics to give them new life -this matter can actually bring life with life with life. Go to infinite possibilities and imagination.

Until now, there are hundreds of ancient and small props I have collected, and there are dozens of camphor furniture. 35M²'s little family can't let go at all, and I have a lot of opinions, but I just can't stop, and I long for a place to show my own ideas.

In 2021, I rented a 250 square meter villa outside Shanghai. It was 8,000 yuan a month and rented it for 5 years.

The main is to use it as a collection space to exhibit these old objects in different ways. At the same time, as my work space, I receive guests and friends, and do some originality and exhibitions.

The entire space has a total of 4 floors. It does not follow the form of the traditional collection space, but is based on the standard of home space, because these objects also originally come from daily life scenes.

At the beginning, I thought about whether to move directly to live, and then stopped. Once there is a need for a home, it is necessary to have a choice. I hope that this is all these old things here. I am just an ornamental, a "breeder", and it is the only thing I want to consider to completely dig and show their beauty. The hard installations are very simple. The walls are basically brushed at random. Many places retain the state of the blank, and more minds are spent on the layout.

Mix and match everywhere in the space

The things I like are very mixed, from the master -level medieval furniture, to the furniture of the Ming and Qing dynasties, to the self -made wooden bench of the African folk, to the old door, the old fabric in Lijiang, and the porcelain cans in India, the porcelain can of the Korean dynasty ... , Size, region, price, I want to adjust everything together.

The first floor is the living room and kitchen area. The two spaces have a large height difference. It is strange that the visual effect is not the interval, but I also hope that the space is transparent. I think that it is used as a bean bag material used for painting. It is light and breathable and has a sense of texture.

Modern Master's Middle -aged Design and Fusion of Folk Protocols

Entering the living room, you can see the three heavyweight and medium -sized furniture at a glance: the masterpiece of Terje Ekstrom, the father of modern furniture design, the classic lamps of Nomou Yongyong, and the design of Led Corbusier, the collection of MOMA collection LC4 lounge chair.

It is a series of old and unknown old furniture from the people: the large lacquer cash cabinet of the Qing Dynasty, the teak coffee table in the Republic of China, the leather whip chair of Ethiopia, the big candlestick in India ...

In fact, I have adjusted this space several times. Now the state of integration is still relatively satisfactory, it will not be too modern, and it will not have a sense of distance.

Comparison before and after the layout of the restaurant area

The restaurant area has also been replaced once recently. Originally, it was used in Indonesia's Java antique teak dining table. The atmosphere was more retro. Now it is the Danish oak table in the 1960s. It is the first medium furniture I collected. It is more modern and concise.

There is a large architecture, and the next step is the arrangement of the details. Every table and corner I will use a large number of small pieces of ancient props to decorate and make small scenery.

These objects are actually very cheap. You can buy very good on dozens or hundreds, but most people do not consider them. Indeed, if such an item is placed there, it seems to be a bit broken and nothing to see. But when you appreciate and match it with different perspectives, there will really be a brighter effect.

It is not beautiful, it is not in its place.

The bedroom on the third floor is actually the same idea. Mario Bellini designed by the Italian national treasure architectural design master Mario Bellini, between the Danish sofa bed in the 1960s, there is a small iron chair from the countryside in China. Because the three styles are extremely harmonious, many people mistakenly think that this small chair is also the medieval work of European design masters.

In the 1980s, AMISCO was a deformable coffee table. It was a African folk -made plug -in chair. This structure is actually very classic. Many medieval design and even modern design are used.

The seats of the old domestic cinema were placed on the edge of the bed and used it. The abandoned paddling templates in the construction site were cleaned by me ...

The reason why each ancient props is unique is because many of them are made on the spot. This is particularly obvious on some old objects in Africa. Like this wooden chair in Ethiopia, the crooked shape looks full of design, but in fact, this is likely to be made by the craftsman at that time. The tree itself is crooked.

Secondly, after years of baptism, many ancient props have disabled or traces of repair. Many of the porcelain and jars I collected have been repaired, either nailing with steel or using old porcelain slices. I especially like this non -copying trace, if it is intact, it is not interesting.

Generally, I will take pictures and share it on the social network. Many people have paid attention one after another, and even made a special trip to visit. A large part of which is the first time I know the concept of ancient road props.

Many people reacted the first reaction and felt that it was an uncle who liked this kind of old object. He knew that I was particularly surprised after the post -90s. But in fact, when I came to see it, I found that the many styling elements of the old things are in line with the aesthetics of contemporary young people -simplicity, no blooming, but there are some compact ideas.

At first glance, the outline was very simple at first glance, and it was found that the table legs were made into the appearance of the scabbard; a pair of iron candlesticks made by the people, the fancy bottom, and the slender trunks put on a small iron ball. There are all lines on the line; the large lacquer cabinets of the Qing Dynasty are narrow and width.

In my opinion, the indoor furnishings of the ancient props are not trying to turn the same ordinary things. By furnishing, it becomes a artwork, but to make a piece of ordinary things that are artistic, let everyone see it again.

In recent years, more and more young people in the country have entered ancient props, and ancient road props have gradually emerged, especially in Fujian and Chengdu. Like some trendy buyer shops and concept stores, they also like to use ancient props such as copper plates and wooden stools for furnishing backgrounds. The ball from the Song Dynasty, similar to the current golf, has also become popular decorations in this kind of space.

In this circle, everyone often communicates, learns, and motivates each other. I used to be unwilling to change the collection, but now I don't think nothing is reluctant. Only by constantly experiencing new things can I have new challenges and new breakthroughs.

At present, the operating cost of space is basically subsidized by the main income, and it is indeed not considered profitable, and it is more interesting.

But there will still be some doubts around you: what is the meaning of you spend these money every month and do this space?

Take care of it every day

We seem to be habitual to find a meaning or value, so that one thing is worthwhile and recognized. I don't actually think so. Many things and even life may be meaningless, but if you try to do it and experience it, it will naturally produce meaning and value.

By doing the collection space, met new friends from all walks of life, broaden their connections and horizons, and therefore gained some new development opportunities. These are what I have never expected.

One day before the shooting, Fang Yuesheng had a new color of the wall on the fourth floor, and the entire layout also changed along the atmosphere.

Now I will come here as soon as I have time every day, and basically change the whole layout once every two or three months. Moved up and moved to adjust and placed, brushed the color of the wall, or quietly appreciated objects and took pictures of them. I felt that I was particularly happy to do everything.

I think everyone needs some of their own sense of rituals in life: some people like to raise plants and go to water for fertilization regularly every day; some people like to raise pets, holding them every day; I like "raising old things" "Then lay them in my space.

Every detail is thoughtful

A few months ago, the epidemic in Shanghai was closed, and the days of home isolation were very touching. My wife was still pregnant at that time, but in fact, she needed activity and breathing fresh air. The family was originally small, and I felt crowded and panicked at this time.

The only opportunity that can be breathable is to do the production inspection. It is still a lot of people on the streets, but there are still many people in the production inspection center. It is not easy to arrange for a long time even if you make an appointment.

The fun "scenery" in the home

Fortunately, both of us love to get up the objects. I like old things. She likes to play and hand in hand, and there will be some very interesting mixing and matching at home. During the epidemic, I like to clean up and change the position every day. It can be regarded as something to do. It is a bit "new" every day. After that, our baby was born 3 days before unblocking.

In the post -epidemic era, I think people's demand and concern for home space are getting higher and higher. I also hope that everyone can draw inspiration from me. In my own space and life, use their own aesthetics and preferences to create some sense of ritual. This incident is not as difficult as expected.
