[Global Times special reporter Liu Haoran] "The epidemic has not ended!" On June 29, the World Health Organization (WHO) called on countries to still be vigilant in response to the new crown pneumonia. A significant cases of cases have been added, and this global popularity "Although it has improved, it has not ended."
The Director -General of WHO delivered a speech on June 29 to "summarize the middle of the year" on the status quo of the new crown pneumonia. He said that the global epidemic is still not optimistic, and Omikon's mutant strains BA.4 and BA.5 are still raging in many countries, resulting in a total number of new cases in the world increased by 20%, up to 110 countries on the rise.
It is reported that in the past year and a half, the total number of vaccines circulating worldwide is about 12 billion. The well -known medical academic journal "Liu Ye Dao" estimates that the vaccination has saved the life of at least 20 million people. However, Tan Desai said that as of now, only 58 countries around the world have completed the set goal of 70%of the population in the middle of this year, and the overall vaccination rate of a few low -income countries has only 13%. Tan Desai warned that this means that hundreds of millions of people and medical personnel around the world can easily be infected in the new round of outbreaks. In terms of WHO, factors such as the lack of political will of individual government's political will and false information interference audiovisual are the main reasons for obstructing vaccination at this stage.
Taking the United States as an example: As of June 25, the country's up to 52%of new cases belonged to the Omikon variant, of which BA.5 accounted for 36.6%and BA.4 accounted for 15.7%. As of June 29, the average number of new cases on the 7th of the United States still reached 112,000. Tan Desai warned that although the global epidemic prevention work has made some progress, the new coronary pneumonia epidemic itself has not ended. Not only that, the decline in the detection rate of new crown pneumonia in some countries also directly affects the real -time follow -up of WHO's epidemic.
There is no alone in more than 50 countries and regions around the world. WHO believes that this situation will continue to deteriorate. Although monkey acne epidemic has not yet constituted an internationally concerned public health incident, WHO still suggested that countries take strong measures to prevent further diffusion of the epidemic. At present, WHO has convened many national medical experts to try to accelerate the detection, treatment and vaccine research and development of monkey acne.
