Take 10,000 steps a day is the "best point" to reduce the risk of disease and death. Very important.
Researchers in Australia and Denmark monitored 78,500 adults using wearable trackers.
It was found that taking 10,000 steps a day can reduce the risk of dementia, heart disease, cancer, and even death. However, the benefits of faster steps are far more than the number of steps.
Matthew Ahmadi, a researcher at the University of Sydney Medical and Health, said: "In order to maintain health, the ideal goal is not only 10,000 steps a day, but also to go faster."
The research uses British Biological Bank data to connect the number of paid data for British adults aged 40 to 79 years after 78,500 to 79 years later with its health status after 7 years. This is the largest study of objective tracking steps and health.
Participants wear wrist tissue and measure the physical activity of 7 days (at least 3 days, including weekends and sleep time).
This information is associated with the health records of participants through multiple data sources, including hospitalization information, primary health and cancer records, and death registration.
Researchers pointed out that the study is observed, which means that they cannot get a direct causal relationship. But they noticed that the experimental crowd had a strong and consistent connection.
Studies have shown that for every 2000 steps, the risk of premature death will gradually decrease by 8%to 11%, and the "best point" is 10,000 steps per day.
Cardiovascular disease and cancer incidence are also similar. The more steps you take every day, the lower the risk of suffering from dementia. 9800 steps are the best "dose" that reduces the risk of dementia by 50%.
Compared with the daily steps, the higher step intensity is good for the above results.
"Our research also shows that for people who are not very active, even if you take 3800 steps a day, you can reduce the risk of dementia by 25%," said Borja Del Pozo Cruz, an associate professor at the University of South Denmark.
"Because the fitness tracker and applications are becoming increasingly popular, the number of steps is easy to obtain, and the public is widely used to track the level of activity because of the increasingly popular fitness tracker and applications, but people rarely think about the meaning of these data."
"These discoveries can provide information for the first formal walk -based sports activity guide and help formulate public health projects that are designed to effectively prevent chronic diseases," Stamatakis said.
The research team stated that more research on long -term use of trackers will more clearly reveal the benefits of the specific level and intensity of daily walking on health.
