Eating more salt is harmful, is less salt healthy? You never think of the truth!

Promoting a low -salt diet, it has almost become the consensus of modern people! (Whether you can do it or not)

But recently, an article entitled "Any Salted Low -Salted Diet should be sent to prison", which is rumored in WeChat.

This "anti -consensus" remark comes from the following:

(Left slip view more pictures)

In fact, this is an interview for some years, and the interviewee is Joel D. Wallach. He was extremely opposed to a low -salt diet and tied for several arguments.

What exactly does this sing? Can the negative effect of high -salt diet on health really be whitewashed?

Analysis 1: Salt is a raw material for producing gastric acid

the truth:

The first argument for Joel to criticize the low -salt diet is that "salt is the raw material for gastric acid. If there is no salt, the cells in the stomach cannot produce gastric acid."

This is not right.

First of all, the main component of gastric acid is hydrogen chloride, and the main component of salt is sodium chloride, and salt can indeed provide chlorine. However, under the premise of maintaining normal physiological needs for ordinary adults, the recommended amount of chlorine daily is 2000 to 2300 mg [1], and it can meet the demand in less than 4 grams of salt. There is still 2 grams of space, which belongs to the category of "low salt".

Besides, other foods can also provide us with chlorine elements, and salt is not the only source of the figurines.

It can be seen that the argument 1 belongs to unprepared information and cannot be whitewashed for high -salt diets.

Analysis 2: Chicago heat stroke incident, low -salt diet is the initiator

the truth:

Joel's second argument was to say "In the summer of 1995, Chicago encountered extreme high temperature weather, and the heat wave lasted for 2 weeks. 750 people died.

The "Chicago heat stroke" incident has indeed happened. The deceased is mainly the elderly and the poor, because the body has poor body temperature function and does not have enough funds to purchase cooling equipment, which leads to tragedy [3].

In high temperature weather, a large number of people lose sweat and electrolyte. If it is not added in time, it may bring fatal risks.

In other words, if we inevitably need to be at high temperature and high -intensity exercise for a long time, it is indeed necessary to supplement salt to maintain the balance and stability inside the body. But this is just an instantaneous measure under extreme circumstances, which cannot be used as a common guidance for diet. Moreover, eating more salt can prevent heat stroke under high temperature weather.

Moreover, we have no way of knowing the salt intake of the victim of the "heat stroke incident" during their lifetime. True 2 is just "forcibly adding drama" and cannot be washed for high salt diets.

Analysis 3: Low -salt diet can cause gluten intolerance

the truth:

The third argument is that "the low -salt diet allows people to produce enough gastric acid, so that gastric protease cannot work normally, it is difficult to completely digest protein, including protein in wheat and barley, and finally produce gluten intolerance."

This argument is also ridiculous.

The gluten is protein in wheat, barley, rye, and its products, and sometimes exists in oats. It is difficult to completely digest gluten in a human gastrointestinal tract, which is not hindered for most people.

Of course, for people who have cherry diarrhea and non -cheroma gluten sensitive, things are not so simple-

After they eat foods containing gluten, they will cause gastrointestinal reactions such as bloating, abdominal pain, nausea, etc. The small intestine mucosa of patients with cerva can also be damaged, which will cause nutrients to absorb nutrients, low weight, insufficient bone density, etc. Adverse -related symptoms [4,5].

However, the causes of these two diseases have nothing to do with a low -salt diet, but may be caused by factors such as genetic and special diseases (such as type 1 diabetes, autoimmune thyroiditis, etc.) [4,5].

Analysis 3 is purely imaginative and false information.

Salfly scientific evidence pointed out that excessive intake of salt (sodium) is the main factor of hypertension:

Excessive sodium enters the blood vessels from the digestive tract, which will induce blood vessel contraction; increase blood capacity, thereby increasing pressure on blood vessels; causing cell edema and narrowing the blood vessel cavity. Over time, the blood vessels will become stiff, the wall of the blood vessels will become thicker, causing the blood vessel space to become narrow, and the blood pressure is high [2].

"Chinese Resident Dietary Guide (2016 Edition)" recommends that the daily salt intake of adults should be less than 6 grams, and elderly people over 65 years of age should be further reduced to 5 grams [2].

However, according to statistics, from 2011 to 2015, the daily dietary sodium intake of Chinese adults was 5404 mg, which is equivalent to 13.5 grams of salt, which has exceeded 2 times the recommended maximum intake [6]. my country's salt limited road is still rugged.

Facing some information on the Internet and large reading volume, do not blindly trust, mistake yourself into Dakeng. Do not be fooled on the issue of salt, you must make a low -salt diet to the end!
