The first Rachmaninov International Music Contest hosted by the Russian Federal Government and the Ministry of Culture has just come to an end. (Aphrodite, piano and orchestral band) won the fourth prize. The competition is divided into three categories: piano, composition, and command. The competition judges are strong. Three Russian top musicians, including pianist Dennis Matroyev, composer Alexander Thakovsky, and conductor Walrey Jayev, are the chairman of three competition jury. At the same time, there are famous musicians from all over the world.
The Rachmanov International Music Contest is a top music event created by Russia. It has its own characteristics with the Tchaikovsky International Music Contest inherited from the former Soviet Union. The first artistic director of the competition was Denis Matsuev, pianist.
At the end of 2021, the Contest Organizing Committee collected piano solo (7-25 minutes) and piano concerto (15-26 minutes) for the global. Dozens of music colleges including the college, the Chinese Academy of Music, and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music participated with hundreds of players. From the preliminary selection to the finals, it took more than 3 months. After anonymous judges from the judges, 24 works from 12 players from Russia, China, and the United Kingdom were shortlisted for the final composition. The Maninov Concert Hall conducted on -site evaluation. Xiao Jinhan's two works "Moonlight Bodhisattva" and "Shouyin Shi" are interconnected series. The two works combine contemporary composition techniques with traditional Chinese opera materials, expressing her in -depth thinking about the eternal theme of "love" at the moment of contemporary music vocabulary, and calls people to pay attention to "love". Its main idea comes from the "bucket arch" of traditional Chinese architectural structures. At the same time, it uses the latest computer software for auxiliary composition, thereby combining traditional Chinese thinking with the latest technology technology today in the paradigm of composition art.

The 12 works participating in the competition have a great extension from traditional tone music to extremely avant -garde music style. This is also a realistic challenge that composition teaching needs to face in various countries in the world. The result of the competition is a comprehensive choice made by the judges to consider music language and composition skills, especially the creation.
Twelve finals have different age, including "40s", "50s", and "post -60s" each, and other participants include 4 "post -80s" and 4 "post -90s". Among them, "post -40s" Vladimir Kobekin is a respectable master composer in Russia. In the finals, only Xiao Jinhan is a undergraduate student who is currently studying. I am honored to receive the fourth prize of the first "Rachmaninov International Music Contest" composition group. What makes me most happy is that the work can be presented by the New Russian International Symphony Orchestra in the Rahmaninov Concert Hall.
The 24 works of 12 composers were selected in the finals of the two rounds of finals and the performance was well -known on the spot. For me, this competition is mainly to participate and exercise myself.
During the school, I also got some exercise experience during the rehearsal performance of solo, indoor music and other works, but it was the first time for me to rehearse the work of large orchestral bands. This time, in the professional competition, it is an unforgettable valuable experience with the commander Anton Shaburov, the pianist Alexey Kudryashov, and the new Russian National Symphony Orchestra.
After the epidemic was effectively controlled, I went to Russia under the requirements of the epidemic prevention and control. This is the first time I have come to Moscow and has seen my work on the stage of international competitions. The piano solo sound department is more difficult, but the pianist Alexey Kudryashov technology is familiar and serious. After repeated communication with the composer, he finally presented the work perfectly. During the process, he will also communicate with me to share his understanding of his works and music, all of which make me gain a lot.
There are two works in this competition. One is the solo of piano "EVE". The Chinese name is "Shouyin Shi", which shows the theme of Chinese New Year. Six chapters depict 6 different scenes with music. I am from Changsha, Hunan, and I have many traditional customs in the Chinese New Year. I still remember that I was waiting for zero o'clock every year when I was childhood, and to put fireworks and firecrackers with friends and relatives, and I walked from the door behind my grandmother to another grandfather's house to pay attention to the New Year. When I grow up, I feel that my growth experience will be reflected in the music. This song is a Chinese style, and it also uses a lot of Peking opera elements, including the third movement using a large number of sliding sounds. The idea comes from some of our usual singing and some vocals in Peking Opera. When performing in Russia, I used such a Chinese -oriented "vocabulary" in my music works, which is also fresh for local audiences. Another piano concerto "Concerto for Piano and Orchestra", expressing the meaning of conveying love and hope.
In the whole process, my professional teacher Qian Shenxuan has been supporting, caring, and instructing me to prepare for my competition. When you encounter problems in rehearsal, you will call and ask for advice. As my solid backing, the teachers of the composition command department have always supported me behind me, making me feel at ease.
Participating in international competitions is an extremely valuable and rare learning opportunity for our young students. Cooperate with the world's top command, orchestra and solo musicians, not only can learn professional knowledge, but also feel the professional atmosphere. This experience made me open up my horizons and communicate with everyone with music.
