One: When did you receive the script of "Menghua Record"? Why do you want to shoot?
Yang Yang: I received the script when I was just summer in 2020. After shooting some men's subject matter, I want to shoot a female costume drama for myself.
I don't like the black and mutually stepping fighting drama. In "Menghua Record", I have seen mutual help and growth between women. This is a very modern story. So as soon as I got the script, I decided to shoot. Start watching the scene and casting immediately. By the winter (February 2021), the filming was shot until the summer, and it took more than a year.

One: There are many "water" elements in the play. How did you think of this point?
Yang Yang: I actually want to break the routine of some traditional costume dramas. As soon as I said that the costume drama, I will go to Hengdian Film and Television City. A large number of lines need to be digested on the streets of Hengdian. I have been thinking that there is something special in Menghua Record.
So I thought of "water", "women are like water". I think more water uses water to show the nature of women, her tenderness and strength.
I checked Kaifeng, which was the historical data of the capital city of the Northern Song Dynasty at that time. It is said that the water system in Tokyo in the Northern Song Dynasty was particularly developed. Give me a historical basis.

With this idea, I ran to Jiangsu and Zhejiang first to see, drove for several days, and I almost went along the large and small places in the Grand Canal. In this process, I actually gave myself a stronger idea. I want to shoot "Menghua Record" into the water.
Then I immediately ran back to Hengdian to communicate these ideas and photos with the art team. Our art director Liu Jingping was filming in Hengdian all year round. He was also distressed. All the big scenes of Hengdian had been filmed by him. After listening to the concept of "water", he was very excited. He ran for another place where I had been there, and he made a lot of scene maps when he returned.

One: What reforms have you done? I couldn't see it at Hengdian.
Yang Yang: Because you know that the scenery of Hengdian has to be robbed, dozens of hundreds of crews are shot there. A scene for you for a day or two, you will be someone else on the third day. Fortunately, all I was looking for were unpopular scenes, and it was almost deserted, so we could have a relatively long time to occupy it in it, and kept polishing and building.
We did repair according to those places in the inspection. Water, plants, fake mountains, roofs, doors and windows ... On the street in the play, because there is no way to plant that place, we bought thousands of pots of flowers and plants. Bonsai, I also bought a lot of garries. The architectural interior in the play is exquisite
I remembered that the scene again seemed to be a scene of the Republic of China, so we have to restore the doors and windows, eaves, and steps to the state of the Song Dynasty. This time is relatively long.
In addition, we found some loose scenes. For example, the scene where Zhao Pan'er rowed out, San Niang was washing clothes by the river, and it was actually Hengdian, but it was difficult for most people to notice that it was blocked by a shrub. When we walked over there, as long as I saw the water, I said that I stopped and stopped, so I went through those shrubs and ran in. I said that this is the Jiangnan Water Village I want.

Yang Yang: In fact, there are many plays, at the time in a state of despair. No inspiration, when you can't think of a good idea, it will be uncomfortable. But suddenly an inspiration will emerge, just shoot according to this inspiration.
