Researchers at Ohio State University conducted five different experiments on 438 adults, and all experiments showed similar results. In the research, participants first need to play a simple computer game, and at the same time, they will see unfamiliar biological pictures. No information on these creatures is provided in the game. A group of participants see two types of creatures: A and B (similar to the real world such as dogs and cats, and the body parts of A and B look a bit different, such as tails and hands with different colors). Another group of trials saw other images of irrelevant creatures. In the late experiment, the participants experienced the formal learning stage. They were told that these creatures belonged to two categories and needed to learn them and make judgments. The researchers measured the time required by the two groups of participants during the learning stage.

It was found that earlier contact produced the effect of preparing learning. The first group of learning was faster, that is, potential learning occurred in the previous game stage. It is purely exposed to these pictures to help them learn category knowledge faster.
