Ministry of Education: About 50,000 college graduates every year teach in primary and secondary schools in the countryside

At the press conference held today (27th), the relevant person in charge introduced that in the past ten years, the education system has insisted on building the construction of teachers as the basic work, and supports high -quality development of education with high -quality teachers.

Teachers have continued to expand. In 2021, there were 18.444 million full -time teachers at all levels in the country, an increase of 26.2%over 2012. The lack of teachers has been effectively relieved for a long time. Promoting the public education of normal students, driven by the demonstration of the Ministry of Normal University, 28 provinces across the country implemented public -funded education in local colleges and universities. About 50,000 college graduates each year went to rural primary and secondary schools to teach. Since the implementation of the "National Pei Plan", the central government has invested more than 20 billion yuan, and more than 18 million training teachers and principals have been trained. The "Special Plan" has recruited a total of 1.03 million teachers, covering 22 provinces, more than 1,000 counties, and more than 30,000 rural schools in the central and western regions, which strongly supports education in rural areas in the central and western regions.

Teachers' quality is significantly improved. In 2021, the proportion of professional education in pre -school education and special education teachers exceeded 85%, which was 24.2 and 39.1 percentage points from 2012. Primary and junior high school full -time teachers accounted for 70.3%and 90.1%, respectively, respectively, 37.7 and 18.4 percentage points from 2012. The proportion of general high school full -time teachers has increased from 5.0%in 2012 to 12.4%in 2021. "Double teachers" teachers in vocational education majors accounted for more than 50%of teachers, and students from general and vocational colleges and universities accounted for 77.5%, an increase of 15.1 percentage points from 2012; 424,000 and 132,000, an increase of 195,000 and 63,000 respectively over 2012.
