Academician Qian Feng: The two "highlights of highlights" in my life

I was the first college student after resumption of the college entrance examination in 1977. At the age of 17, I studied at Nanjing Institute of Chemical Technology (now renamed Nanjing University of Technology) chemical automation and instrumentation. Very proud to say that my academic performance was very good during college.

After graduating, I have worked in the Fourth Plastic Factory in Nanjing for more than four years. During this period, I have been an assistant engineer and engineer. At that time, my country's micro -computers had begun to apply in chemical process control, but there was a big gap compared to developed countries in the West. The equipment of key devices in my country's petrochemical industry is imported from abroad, and the degree of localization is low. It is urgent to change the situation of being restrained by independent innovation.

This has always made me feel what I have to do to change the existing control methods and models of the industrial process, and for this reason, I have a strong willingness to study for further studies.

In 1986, I was admitted to East China Institute of Chemical Technology (now renamed East China University of Technology) and studied for a master's and doctoral students. East China Institute of Chemical Engineering is the first high school institution in New China, and it is also one of the first schools in New China to recruit automatic graduate students.

Being able to enter such a university has made me very excited, which has become a "high time" in my life.

Similar to the undergraduate majors, my graduate students choose to study in the industrial automation of electronic engineering and automatic control. At that time, the majors of electronic engineering and automatic control were very "fashionable". But my original intention was not because of its "popular", but to learn the technical level of this field to catch up or surpass foreign.

Because for enterprises, especially petrochemical companies, a series of problems such as high temperature, high pressure, flammable and explosive, harmful gas will be faced during the production process. Only by controlling the production process accurately can we ensure safety and improve efficiency. After graduating from graduate students, I stayed at East China Institute of Chemical Engineering for talent training and scientific and technological innovation.

So far I still remember the scene of my first class to the graduate class. That was another "high time" in my life.

The first course I taught was a basic course for graduate students in automation -multi -variable control system theory and design. This is also one of the best courses in my graduate stage. I hope to teach students my feelings, learning experiences, and cases I have contacted in the factory so that they can also have the ability to solve practical problems.

For the first time on the podium, I was very excited, but there were problems that needed to face as "novices". I remember that I had to make a book while I was on the other hand. It was more difficult to "collaborate" by the two, which made me feel a little messy. Now we have PPT and multimedia usable, which is relatively easy.

Frankly speaking, my requirements for myself were "not high" at the time, but I just wanted to be a teacher like my mentor.

My doctoral tutor, Professor Jiang Weisun, is one of the pioneers of the Department of Industrial Automation in my country. He was very famous in the field of automation at that time, especially in the field of chemical process control. In my mind, he not only has a high level of academic level, good character, good calligraphy, but also in Chinese and Western. He has deep ancient literature accumulation and can be exported.

More importantly, Teacher Jiang pays special attention to the combination of knowledge, technology, and factory production, emphasizing the use of the theoretical knowledge learned to reality and solving real problems in reality.

It is worth mentioning that in the early 1970s, Teacher Jiang led his students to investigate the front -line, and almost traveled to the major industrial and mining enterprises, universities and research institutes of related chemical process control technology research and applications. The first process controls the scientific and technological work "Chemical Automation" (upper, lower volumes).

Later, along his footsteps, I created advanced control and optimization of the key laboratory of the Ministry of Technology Education (now renamed the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Intelligent Manufacturing and Education of the Energy and Chemical Process), the Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Engineering Education of the Process System, and Shanghai A series of scientific and technological innovation platforms and innovation teams such as the frontier science base of industrial intelligence and intelligent systems, and in this process, it has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents with deep theoretical level and rich practical experience.

Professor Du Wenli is one of the doctoral students I cultivated. She studied undergraduate and master's degree at Dalian University of Technology. She is now the dean of the Graduate School of East China University of Technology and a national high -level talent. In February this year, she led by her and my "Teacher Teacher Teacher Teacher Teacher" of Petrochemicals and Chemical Technology was selected as the second batch of national college Huangdian -style teacher team.

I think it is particularly worthy of praise that she has accumulated the results in complex industrial process modeling and control. It has been widely used in the process of ethylene, PTA (refined phenyl acid), and refining The series has the core technology with independent intellectual property rights.

Dr. Wang Honggang is another doctoral student of my. After graduating, he rejected me for "invitation" that he asked him to stay in school and bravely "rushing into the rivers and lakes." He worked at the Shanghai R & D Center of the United States GE Company and the headquarters of the United States GE Company, and also achieved good results.

In addition, I have trained many postdoctoral post -doctoral, and many of them work in large enterprises and universities at home and abroad. This is also proud of me.

At East China University of Technology, my innovation team is famous "strict". The team implements strict attendance and assessment management. It is required that teachers and students must ensure the work and study time of the laboratory within a week. At the same time, they must be able to get off the factory. The research work should combine the actual production. Before entering our team, there are often such conversations: "Do you want to join Teacher Qian's team? If you want to join, you must make up your mind. ","

When I choose a student, I especially value whether the students are "diligent." I feel that compared with cleverness, diligence and practicality are more important. As long as the learning is initiative and enthusiastic, it will not be too bad in the future.

When I taught students, I like to use "inspiration teaching" that peels onions, and do not directly answer "yes" or "no", but constantly ask them "why". Sometimes someone says me, like "Xianglin", so embarrassed. But I think that only in this way can students integrate knowledge and be able to line up.

I especially like students to ask questions. The more questions I ask, the better. My mobile phone is turned on 24 hours. Students can ask questions at any time. Even if I can't answer it for a while, I will be very happy. In order to solve the question, I can organize a seminar and even invite experts in this field at home and abroad to discuss.

"Patience" and "Following the Sales" are just my side, and sometimes I "forced debts" like "Huang Shiren". For example, I ask team teachers and students not to "pound". Study and innovation research must formulate "Gand Charts" similar to the progress of the project. Work content and progress.

Because in the actual application of enterprises, the requirements of time and construction period have been used as soon as possible, which can benefit the enterprise as soon as possible.

Now the state has proposed an excellent engineer education and training plan, and I have experienced it deeply.

Our "post -60s" generation came from the practice of the practice of engineering education cooperation in industry, university and research, and faced with the current "book bag" (new teacher from the school gate to the school gate). Being able to inherit my engineering knowledge, technology and experience is also the urgent need for my country to move from a "manufacturing country" to a "manufacturing power".

Frankly speaking, there are still some problems in our current institutional mechanism in this regard, but I hope to advance through our own physical strength and advance this exploration.

For example, through years of cooperation, we have established a good relationship with companies. It is difficult for ordinary people to enter the factory, especially some large petrochemical companies, and the members of our team can be "unobstructed" as corporate employees. In this way, I have conditions and resources. Not only do my students go to the factory to do the topic, but also the young teachers who come back from overseas "True" problem, do "real" research, while solving the actual problems of the factory, think about the scientific essence behind the phenomenon, and do some theoretical innovation research. The latter may not be used immediately for production reality, but it can be continuously improved to lead the technology forefront.

I hope that we can cultivate talents with "Chinese characteristics and world -class". "Chinese characteristics" should be put in front, because we often emphasize "world -class", but forget "Chinese characteristics". Those with "Chinese characteristics" are the backbones and main forces that support the high -quality development of China's socio -economic and economic development.
