Australian "East Asia Forum" website on August 2nd article, original title: The dilemma of Chinese vocational education is in China. Many students choose to study vocational schools due to poor academic performance or their children of migrant workers. However, the data shows that Chinese university graduates still provide too much, and technical workers are in short supply.

The number of colleges and graduates in China has increased rapidly. However, if the increasing number of enrollment people is not accompanied by the corresponding increase in "human, financial and material support", then higher education expansion may damage the quality of education and affect social and economic development. In the younger generation, the number of graduates of vocational high schools and vocational colleges has increased. However, this is to a greater extent from the government's policy to balance the number of enrollment in vocational colleges and ordinary colleges, not the result of personal decision. Many students are reluctant to choose vocational education track. There is a long -term atmosphere of graduates of vocational colleges, and many parents are unwilling to send their children to vocational colleges for study.

The employment market facing young people in China is challenged by lack of supply of skilled workers. As the supplies of skilled workers, coupled with the excessive demand for college graduates, the wage gap between vocational high school graduates and college graduates is shrinking, and the mismatch of the employment market has been exacerbated. High -quality talents can only match low -skills employment positions, and seize employment opportunities from the hands of low competitive vocational colleges. This reduces the attractiveness of vocational education, and as more and more students turn to academic education, further depreciation of college degrees.

This universal cycle of degree depreciation and low -attraction of vocational education highlights the importance of changing the traditional concept that changes vocational education as secondary options. The government must actively publicize vocational education and introduce relevant policies to improve the overall quality of vocational education and increase the number of students who choose vocational education.
