In 1938, it was officially renamed Harbin University of Technology. After liberation, as Harbin Institute of Technology returned to the embrace of the motherland, New China attached great importance and support to the school. According to the school report that year, Comrade Deng Xiaoping, then the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council on September 15, 1958, came to the school to inspect. At that time, the Grand School of Harbin Institute of Technology was located in the Turkish Building (that is, the location of the School of Architecture). Deng Xiaoping and the leading comrades of the Central Committee in the conference room on the second floor listened to the report of President Li Chang. Deng Xiaoping pointed out that "the major factories should care about the destiny of the country" and instructed the Harbin Institute of Technology to "engage in cutting -edge." This foresight instructions established the direction of development for Harbin Institute of Technology and opened the prelude to the relationship between Harbin Institute of Technology and China Aerospace.

The title of "Civil Engineering" started in 1955. It was formed by the division of teaching majors compared to the mechanical building and motor buildings built in 1954 and 1955, respectively. In 1959, with the adjustment of the department, the Department of Civil Engineering was independently expanded into the Harbin Institute of Construction Engineering (Harbin -Jiangong). School of running. In 1994, Harbin Institute of Technology was renamed Harbin Architecture University and built a new campus on Huanghe Road. Civil engineering, water drainage, HVAC, transportation and other majors moved out. The civil building campus began to be called "old district" or "headquarters". In 2000, Harbin Institute of Technology and Harbin University, as one of the initial disciplines of the school, stayed in this treasure building, and the name of the civil engineering building returned again.

Here, the first industrial and civil architecture major in my country, the first water supply and drainage major, the first heating ventilation and air -conditioning majors have been born.
