Gao Zhihang, formerly known as Gao Mingjiu, Zi Ziheng. Born in June 1908, Liaoning Tonghua (now Jilin Province). In 1924, Gao Zhihang graduated from the church school "Fengtianzhong France Middle School" and was admitted to the Northeast Army officer education class. This year, the Northeast Army expanded the Air Force and recruited pilots to study in France. He changed his name "Mingjiu" to "Zhihang", showing his determination to be in aviation. In the end, he went to France to study military flight as expected.

In January 1929, Gao Zhihang returned to China and was assigned to the Flying Eagle Division of the Northeast Airlines as the second leader pilot. In the flight exercise, he won the praise and admiration of officers and soldiers with superb flight technology. At one exercise, his right leg was interrupted by the pop -up pole. In 1931, Gao Zhihang was promoted to Major and served as the captain of the Detachment of the Flying Eagle Detachment. In 1935, he was ordered to go to Italy to buy fighters. In May 1936, Gao Zhihang returned to China and served as the deputy chief of the Air Force Teaching Corps, the captain of the 6th Air Force, and the captain of the 4th Air Force.

On August 13, 1937, the Battle of Songhu broke out.
