I was born in a small county on the side of Xi'an, and I moved to Xi'an to live in middle school. In my teens, my friend and I were shopping with a bell and drum tower next to me. I remember my teenage, the most sad age, I was immersed in the stable and ancient atmosphere of ancient buildings. , But a very peaceful temperament.
Up: Childhood under Xi'an: During the Jingdezhen period
After graduating from the Department of Ceramics of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, I started the "scenery" for five years. In Jingdezhen, there are many young people who are engaged in ceramic art creation like me. Most of us do not have a fixed job. They rent a house with a yard and create a life.
In the Jingdezhen period, "Shadow" and "Chaos"
Jingdezhen has a slow atmosphere, and people become slowly. They go to the market to buy food with their classmates, cook themselves, or go to the mountains. We go to Sanbao Mountain most often. I occasionally go to the pottery market to set up stalls.

Although my life in Jingdezhen is quite suitable for me, a few years later, I feel that I don't seem to grow up anymore, and I feel a bit of turning in place. Culturally, the stimulus that Jingdezhen gave me and the impulse that made me want to explore was obviously not enough.
In 2016, I decided to go to different cultural environments for a while. Alfred University should be my best choice because it has always been the highest ranking school in the United States. Of course, there are very real factors. Provide me with full scholarship.

In China, I basically create mud and glazes I bought. There are also technicians who can help. After studying abroad, I started to complete each process of the production of ceramic art independently, which also has something to do with the cultural environment. After Western experience arts and crafts, the whole process of the artist and craftsmen independently respects the entire process.
The way to treat ceramic art on both sides is not the same. In China, ceramics and culture and history are deeply connected. We have awe of pottery and focus on inheriting this side. But in the United States, the beginning of ceramics is to "break". If we look at the works of Peter Waltis, the father of modern ceramics, we will know why the pottery they make is so strange.

"I don't know that my body is a guest", I started to create during my master's degree. Once in the classroom, the teacher asked us to refer to ourselves in a word. I used Foreigner directly. A American classmate told me that to some extent, we are all foreign people. I just reacted, not just the physical level, spiritually, each of us may be foreign people.
Later, this series of works also became the work of my graduation exhibition. I remember that the situation was very sleepy at the time, and I felt like I was going to enter the elephant with a room full of porcelain. There was a sense of anxiety in identity.
I remember there was a news about Foxconn's workers, which moved me very much. The poet wrote a poem, "I swallow a moon with an iron work, and they call it screw."

I think there are people who cannot count in this world, because of their livelihood, they have to stay in a city that is difficult to integrate. Even people living in their hometown may feel isolated and not understood.
The height of these white sculptures I made is similar to that of people. The lower half looks like a tight leg leg with muscles, supporting the entire sculpture, just like each of us who are struggling and living hard.

In the upper part of the sculpture, the element of the building comes from my memory of my hometown; the elements of the plant want to show a vitality; the hollow structure is from my imagination of the temple Buddha, and I hope it can cause a kind of viewing and exploration the behavior of.
Through the work, I hope to record the feelings of as a flesh and blood as much as possible, so it shows a cruel, confusing, greedy side, and a beautiful and quiet side. I often remember life in different places. Every city seems to have different colors. I think my childhood was rose; when I went to college in Beijing, the memories seemed to be yellow.

The "Mom · Container" series, I started to do it before pregnancy. At that time, I missed my mother very much. After I lived alone here for several years, I realized that my mother for decades for decades, how hard it was to cook and clean up the house.
A family is also closely linked because of the care of the mother, which feels like a family. So I want to make some works related to my mother. My mother likes flowers very much, so I made some vessels like flowers.
Later, I was pregnant myself, and gave birth to a new life in my body. I describe the female body as a flower that can make fruit. This is a very beautiful process, but it cannot ignore the confusion and inner conflict that our women experienced in this process.
Children are also robbing space with their mother and grabbing the right to use their bodies. Therefore, the struggle and beauty in the breeding process exist at the same time. The hard work is not a need for women, but the choice of women.
The entire mother · container series has more than twenty. The latest works I made with a pink background to take pictures. I want to choose a pink color that can better show the gentle color of women, which is a bit like the color of the uterus. I remember when having a child, my husband looked at the whole process in the delivery room, and he told me what the uterus looked like.
Created with mud materials, it can be said that it is an art that uses time to pour. In addition to finishing the work little by little, we must wait patiently and wait for the air to dry and fired. In the process of waiting for molding, I feel that I can pass the emotions that can accumulate in my heart through the movements of my hand to the soil, and then convert it into the temperament of my work.
Our social environment seems to be encouraging a very fast response, but I still feel that it should be slow to slow down, so that there is room for space to truly feel and understand life.

Tools needed for ceramics
In ceramic techniques, my own favorite should be mud ducts. This is the most primitive ceramic forming method of human beings, which makes me feel very free. For big sculptures, I usually draw sketches to determine the size I want to do, and start several parts at the same time.
I think the reason why art is attractive is that there are some languages and logic that cannot be explained for the time being. For the interpretation of art, it is always just a cat to paint a tiger. At this moment I explained my work, I was not very sure, and I was just talking about my feelings.

I am actually a relatively anxious person. Usually the crowded environment in the city will make me feel very tired even if nothing is done. After moving to the countryside, he returned to a very simple life, learning planting, chicken raising, and various living skills. I also have a great natural space. Looking at the open scenery, my mood will become better, and the pressure and anxiety will be reduced.

I still think about how to reply, my mother said, but you have a happy life, right? My daughter's life is most important, so I guess they should be a state of worrying and understanding.
The biggest regret in the past two years is that the family cannot be seen in real time under the epidemic. But we will video in two or three days, so I know their situation and their situation more. I also hope that the epidemic can be faster and can reunite with their families.
