In April 2016, Cao Wenxuan won the International Andersen Award in Bologna, Italy. This is the first time that Chinese writers have won this award. This height is the height of novel art, the height of aesthetic emotions, the height of literary responsibility, the height of cultural responsibility, and the height of language power. Cao Wenxuan was very concerned about the "aesthetic" of literature. He repeated repeatedly: "The power of beauty is no less than the power of thought. No matter how profound thought will become common sense, only beauty is forever "Ugly", and is always puzzled on civilianization. Therefore, Cao Wenxuan expressed his decisive rejection of a bandit, farmers, gangs, rogue, and qi "that could be felt at all times in contemporary Chinese writers and even works. Morality, aesthetics, and compassion are the cornerstone of all his text buildings.

Pacch Adama, chairman of the International Andersen Award Jury, said that Cao Wenxuan "uses poetic brushstrokes to describe some real and sad moments in life in native life." He must also know that Cao Wenxuan has a crystal clear, fiery and sincere childlike child than others.
