The latest archaeological results of the Shanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeological Research said that it was found that the gate outside the Bicun site in Shanxi had obvious defense properties. It was believed that the large stone city settlement in the Longshan era should be a barrier city on the banks of the Yellow River.

The Bicun site is located north of Bicun Village, Xing County, Luliang City, Shanxi Province. It is located at the intersection of the Weifen River and the Yellow River with an area of ​​about 750,000 square meters. About 4000 years ago.

With the approval of the State Administration of Cultural Relics, the Shanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeological Research Institute conducted archeological excavations on the Bicun site. Bi Cun's ancestors built a city wall and gates in the middle and east of the ruins to control the channel with the help of the south, north, and west sides of the south, north, and west.

Among them, the location of Xiaoyu Liang is the center of the site. It is a high platform built on the wall. There are a group of stone building complexs with large linked rooms as the core. The location of the Shimenzhang is the city wall and gate of the site.

The outer city gate is synthesized by three large pier pier enclosures. The center is set with small pier tables, and the barrier wall is connected on both sides. Zhang Guanghui believes that the outer city gate is regular, with strict structure and obvious defense properties. It is an important case for understanding the layout of Chinese prehistoric and pre -Qin city gates. The Bicun site occupies a prominent strategic location of controlling the gate of the Yellow River and the Wei Fen River. The city gate system strongly points to it that it may play the role of the Yellow River.
