During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the Catholic Lady of Tongwanli had no original crime, the three Holy Holy Hall of Zhujiaxiang, the Seven Virgin Church of the Jiangjiatang, and the Xujiatang Joseph Church, etc. The area of Tangwan is the earliest Catholic Church gathering place in Shanghai.

Since the ten years of Xianfeng (1860), it has become an important battlefield in the "Xianfeng Bing Disaster". Three years of soldiers, the local losses were heavy, and the huge Seven Temple Temple nearby became a ruins.

The No. 7 Bridge of Caobao Road has always been a fortress. In 1945 and 1949, the "attack Seventh Bridge" battle occurred, and the People's Liberation Army opened the "West Gate of the Great Shanghai" here.
