Art | The Chinese Art Museum Collection Ludwig couple donated works to Tsinghua University

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany, the opening ceremony of the opening ceremony of the "Eternal Temperature -The Eternal Temperature -the Chinese Art Museum Collection of Ludwig Couples" jointly sponsored by the China Art Museum, Tsinghua University, and the Federal Republic of China. It was held on the 14th at the Art Museum of Tsinghua University.

Zhao Shaohua, deputy secretary of the party group and deputy minister of the former Ministry of Culture, attended and announced the opening of the exhibition. Fu Rong, Germany's ambassador to China, Wu Weishan, member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, director of the China Art Museum, and vice chairman of the Chinese Academy of Arts, Yang Bin, vice president of Tsinghua University, and Shao Dazhen, a professor and doctoral instructor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, attended and delivered a speech.

This exhibition is a series of "Collection Activation" of the China Art Museum. Exhibition of 61 works (sets) of the Ludwig couples in the Chinese Art Museum, divided into six parts of "consumer culture", "constructing society", "expanding language", "constituting boundaries", "narrative life" and "inheritance tradition". The artistic appearance of Europe and America in the 1960s and 1990s.

Professor Peter Ludwig and his wife, Professor Erin Lutwich, are internationally renowned collectors and scholars. In 1996, they treasured the personal Boblo Picasso, Andy Volhol, Gehard Richter. 89 (sets) works created by artists such as David Hokkini were donated to the Chinese Art Museum for free. These works come from different countries and regions, including multiple art schools, showing cultural diversity in different society and historical context. Since accepting donations, the Chinese Art Museum has been based on these collections every year. Through exhibitions, research, and public education, it has continuously "activated" these collections to maximize the value of these classics. Over the past 26 years, more than one million viewers have witnessed the style of these cultural treasures.

In December 2020, the China Art Museum and Tsinghua University signed a cooperation agreement to open a new chapter in the cooperation between the "strong joint and advantage". This time, the Ludwig couple donated works to enter the Tsinghua campus. It is also a powerful measure for both parties to study academic communities through collections and deepen public cultural services. The exhibition uses "Aesthetic Education" as the starting point, restores a section of an era by combining works and literature, and explains the art and cultural value of these works to the audience on this basis.

In 2016, the China Art Museum held the first special exhibition with the theme of "Eternal Temperature" to commemorate the love of donors. As a beneficiary of donations, the China Art Museum once again subject to "eternal temperature". It is hoped that through the exhibition, the emotional temperature of these works and the temperature of the friendship between China and Germany continue to "heat up."

The exhibition will last until November 30.
