How to interpret this traditional Chinese festival
Mid -Autumn Festival is a festival that is difficult to reunite to make people feel dear
Professor of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature Chaping Ball
I studied the Tang Dynasty literature. In fact, Mid -Autumn Festival is a custom that originated from the moon sacrifice. This custom was recorded in the "Zhou Li" in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period (4th century BC). It is divided into ten months a year, so the specific date of the moon sacrifice is not on August 15th. After Hanwu, it started to be divided into twelve months of Han calendar for a year. Mid -Autumn Festival is determined to be a fixed festival later. We currently discover the earliest poems that mention the concept of the Mid -Autumn Festival. "Over months".
When it comes to Mid -Autumn Festival -related literary works, everyone is more familiar with "people have sadness and joy, and the moon is full of shade." I think that the reason why the Mid -Autumn Festival can mobilize the emotions of the literati is so resonated with everyone because it was originally a difficult festival. Mid -Autumn Festival is not like the Qingming of spring. In the winter solstice of winter, it is all when the temperature is leisure. The temperature is also suitable for food storage, and the reunion of family members is easy to achieve. Because it is difficult to reunite, Mid -Autumn Festival has become our time when we miss the separated family. This desire to reunite with family members has nothing to do with the farming civilization in the Central Plains. Traditional Chinese families have been in the well fields for generations, and they feel miserable to leave. People call it "back to the hometown."
Today, if you want to give a new life of the Mid -Autumn Festival, I think I want to work hard on the innovation of group activities. Because the nature of human beings is a living animal, which is common in ancient and modern, and the nature of the group is human nature. In the Tang Dynasty in the Tang Dynasty, the morning bell twilight, "continuing the drums and breaking the crowd"; the official holiday, the curfew was lifted, and people could come out to enjoy the lights, enjoy the flowers, enjoy the moon, go to the market, go to the market to experience the group of citizen culture Essence Today we have no curfew and more entertainment activities. We should also innovate group living activities carried by specific symbols to enrich our common national memory.
Mid -Autumn Festival is part of our cultural gene
Fan Lizhu, a professor at the School of Social Development and Public Policy
If you are in a big city, the pace of life is fast, and everyone does not pay special attention to many traditional festival rituals. The festival atmosphere is often expressed through food, such as eating moon cakes in the Mid -Autumn Festival. But the life of a large city can represent part of China, but it cannot represent all China. I have been doing a survey of folk belief over the years. I have gone to some places in the southeast and northwest. I often feel that China's local society is a very important foundation for traditional Chinese culture.
There will be many ritual activities in traditional villages, and it will be more lively during the holidays. Of course, the specific holiday customs vary from place. Just as the "Three -character Scripture" is "similar to sex, far away", different regions, different natural environment, there will be a lot of different customs. For example, before and after the Mid -Autumn Festival, there are many folk activities related to water in Jiangnan. For example, there is a tide to watch the Qiantang River in Zhejiang, but these are not very easy to implement in the northwest.
Although the Mid -Autumn Festival customs are unspeakable, there are some sacrifice activities in common. As a country developed for thousands of years of agricultural society, China's traditional beliefs contain a large amount of worship of nature, such as the heavens and the earth, the sun and the moon. This kind of worship is planted in our cultural genes, which is a belief that constitutes part of the social life of Chinese people, and also regulates some of our actions.
In sociology, the "traditional re -invention" is to explore some new forms in the traditional, and inherit some traditional concepts. Chinese traditional festivals are continued in the process of advancing with the times. I am more optimistic and feel that the traditional concepts, beliefs, and values of the Chinese will definitely continue like the festival. After all, most Chinese people will say one or two sentences, "I hope that people will last long, and they have a thousand miles together."
Now the economy has developed, and people may turn in turn to find the meaning of life. I remember Mr. Wen Yiduo wrote a prose, talking about the question of dragon and Feng, and said that after he was abroad, he emphasized the close relationship between the dragon and the phoenix because he was Chinese. When I am abroad, I will pass the Mid -Autumn Festival every year, but I don't feel that Thanksgiving has something to do with myself, because there is no such thing in my cultural genes, so I said that traditional festivals such as Mid -Autumn Festival have become part of our cultural genes.
I think the Mid -Autumn Festival is not light, but it is even thicker
Professor Zhang Weiran, a professor at the Institute of History and Geography, China
When it comes to Mid -Autumn Festival, the first thing I think of is Su Shi and his "Water Tune Songs", which is a beautiful word. This beauty is reflected in three aspects. One is the very beautiful words itself, and the other is composed by today's people, which produces shocking music power. The third is the emotional expression between words and melody.
Some people worry that the Mid -Autumn Festival will slowly dilute or even die, and I don't worry at all. As long as Chinese people are there, Chinese culture is there, this festival will definitely be inherited. This festival expresses a respect for life in the environment of our East Asian quarterly climate. Moon cakes are just a sustenance of this festival. To celebrate the Mid -Autumn Festival, it is more expressed in respect for affection and friendship. So when it comes to this festival, we will feel particularly warm and kind. In traditional Chinese festivals, I feel that there are three festivals: Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid -Autumn Festival. In these three festivals, Mid -Autumn Festival is the latest, and its origin is not particularly early, and the Song Dynasty began to be really popular; in addition, Mid -Autumn Festival is relatively not so complicated. Sanitary concepts are related to life.
We often say that the taste of the year is faint. From a certain perspective, there are many taboos because of the Chinese traditional Spring Festival. For example, when I was a kid, by the first day of the year, I must wear new clothes, and I must speak auspicious. These things are difficult to continue now. But there are not so many taboos in the Mid -Autumn Festival. It is at a time point, and life needs a relaxation of emotion. I feel that the Mid -Autumn Festival is not light, but it is even thicker, because the current social material is extremely rich, and it will not be as poor as before because of the poverty. Everyone's emphasis on family and friendship has improved a lot more than decades ago.
Moon cakes are indeed produced throughout the year, which is not false; after the traffic is developed, everyone can reunite, which is also true. But the problem is the sense of ritual. If you eat moon cakes in the Mid -Autumn Festival, it is a food. To this festival, this time will the emotions different. There should be some festivals in life, letting it run again and again.
I don't think I need to deliberately give any new connotations to the Mid -Autumn Festival, so this festival will slowly taste. Everyone can spend the festival. As long as the holidays are good, the Mid -Autumn Festival will leave a period of memory and a yearning for everyone. This is fine.
