On August 27, the launching ceremony of the first phase of the underwater archeological survey of the "Jingyuan" ship was held at Liu Gong Island, Weihai City, Shandong Province, and a flag ceremony of the underwater archeological team of the "Jingyuan" ship was held.
The "Jingyuan" ship was completed in 1887. He joined the Beiyang Marine Division in December of the same year. He was stranded after the two cannonballs fired by the Antlers occupied by the Japanese army in the Battle of the Sino -Japanese War of the Sino -Japanese War of the Sino -Japanese War.
The underwater archaeological survey project will take 70 days. Underwater archeological teams joint team. The investigation of 2022 will be exposed to the "Jingyuan" ship site in the southern waters of the south of the iron dock on the basis of 2020 and 2021.
It is estimated that this year's sand pumping area is about 300 square meters, and the discovered shipwreck wreckage or underwater relics will be strictly in accordance with archeological operating procedures and standards, and underwater archeological work such as surveying, mapping, images, and text records will be carried out. Subsequent plans to pump sand with the area of the Shenliu site of about 200 square meters.
"The entire ship was buried by the mud, and it had been buried at the depth of about 60 cm to 1 meter. It was necessary to continuously expose sand to disclose more relics." Said Zhou Chunshui, the leader of the Archaeological Research Center of the State Administration of Cultural Relics.
This project plans to carry out two phases of work. Through two consecutive segments, it will preliminarily clarify the ship's preservation status and distribution information to provide precious archeological information for the study of the History of the Sino -Japanese War and the history of the world naval ships.
From 2017 to 2020, Weihai City, Shandong Province continued to carry out underwater archeological surveys of the "Dingyuan" Shenshu site, with more than 1,500 cultural relics from water, including key physical evidence that can confirm the identity of the "Dingyuan" ship - 18.7 tons of iron armor.
