Shi Kunyi, the dancer on the fingertips of the Shiqi Quanzhou 丨 fingertips: The most beautiful brick carving style of southern Fujian is the "Quanzhou Red"
Author:Quanzhou Evening News Time:2022.08.29
Walking on the world's cultural heritage city Quanzhou, many ancient buildings in Fujian have red brick brick carving. They are either in an conspicuous place in the facade of Guyu, or in some details of the ancient puppets, not only add color to the building, but also show the taste and cultural temperament of the owners of these houses.
In Jinjiang Shenzhen and Shanghai, there is a old man who is obsessed with brick carving Shi Kunyi, 61 years old. In 17 years, he worked hard to study brick carving skills, with the red brick of southern Fujian as a medium, incorporated calligraphy art into it, and carved exquisite calligraphy brick carving works. In 2009, his brick carving work "Borrowing Pavilion" was collected by the Quanzhou Museum, and many people made a special trip to customize. □ Quanzhou Evening News reporter Xu Yalingwen/Picture
Shi Kunyi is focusing on carving brick carving works
Seventeen years of brick sculpture with a sword on behalf of the brushwork
Reporter: When did you start with brick carving and decide to focus on brick carving?
Shi Kunyi: Since I was a child, I have a unclear love for the ancient red bricks and southern Fujian brick carvings. I often go to see the various brick carvings of the old house. At the age of 17, the house was raised at home. I carved the word "blessing" on the red brick shadow wall of the living room, which was a thing that made me proud.
When I was young, I have opened a barber shop, sold clothes, and went to Shanghai, Fuzhou, Xiamen and other cities to do antique business. Occasionally, a friend came here, and I would engraved one or two brick carvings.
17 years ago, there was a brick carving couplet that was rescued from ancient times. I am familiar with the history of this brick carving. I know who the owner of the Guyu is, who the writers are, and the characteristics of the writer's calligraphy. Today, this brick carving couplet is collected in the Jinjiang Museum. This incident made me very fulfilling, and therefore decided to focus on brick carving.
Shi Kunyi's brick carving work "Stone Ru Parrot"
Over the past 17 years, most of my brick carving works have been used with calligraphy brick carvings. Recently, the calligraphy brick sculpture "Shi Ru Parrot" has just been completed. It is the poem of the Taishou Wang Shipeng of the Quanzhou Taishou in the Song Dynasty and Zhang Ruitu, the calligrapher of the Quanzhou calligrapher in the Ming Dynasty. Stitch to the slate. Earlier, I carved a calligraphy brick carving work "Lanting Preface" composed of 18 pieces of stone in more than three years. The square bricks are carved one by one, and then spliced to the stones.
The difficulty of "cooked carvings" is difficult to pay attention to it

Reporter: Can you introduce the differences between southern Fujian brick carvings and other genre brick carvings?
Shi Kunyi: As a national intangible cultural heritage, there are many genres in brick carvings, such as Hui School, Su School, Jingpai, Lingnan, etc., but the brick carvings of these genres are blue bricks. The carving uses red bricks.
The brick carving of southern Fujian is mainly relief, combined with line carving and spelling. There are very few hollow and transparent carving techniques. The carving methods include raw carving (front of kiln), cooked carving (behind kiln), and mold carving. The "cooked carving" method I often use, that is, after the red brick firing is completed, cut or carve on the bricks, and uses many brick -engraving knife methods. Because the red bricks are relatively hard and the carvings are more difficult, it is expected to do seven or eight hours a day before, and now I can only do three or four hours a day. In order to avoid injuries to my fingers, I also made my finger sleeve. Each time I started construction, I had to wear finger sleeves on the thumb, middle finger and little finger. The brick carving works presented by "cooked carving" are more simple, atmospheric and vivid.
The work is integrated into the world heritage element to hold a brick carving exhibition in the future
In the past two years, Shi Kunyi has also created some modern works, allowing brick carving works to keep up with the times and keep up with the pace of the times.

Reporter: After the successful heritage of Quanzhou, not only the material cultural heritage has attracted much attention, but the intangible cultural heritage has also been frequently liked. How will you integrate the elements of world legacy into the brick carving and further publicize and promote Quanzhou culture?
Shi Kunyi: In these years, I have always paid attention to incorporating the elements of calligraphy works such as Master Hongyi, Wu Lu, and Zhang Ruitu into the creation of brick carving. These calligraphy brick carving works have been welcomed by many collectors, and they have made special customization from various places. At the same time, I tried to incorporate the inscriptions of the nine days of the World Heritage Point into my brick carving creation, letting the world and non -heritage collide with different sparks.
In the past two years, I have also created some modern works, such as learning Lei Feng and other theme works, so that brick carving works have advanced with the times and keep up with the pace of the times.
