The fact is that everyone is boring.

For most of us, isolation at home or the Spring Festival holiday may be an extremely boring situation because we cannot participate in many outdoor entertainment activities we usually use to pass time. But boring itself is very common: as Camus's pessimistic statement: "The fact is that everyone is boring."

So, how should we deal with boring questions? Is boring to bring us some benefits? The following is a boring study. Let's take a look together.

1. Don't look at your mobile phone

When we feel bored, the first thing many of us do is to reach out to take our mobile phone, prepare to swipe the mobile phone endlessly until we are tired, and then look for other fun for ourselves.

But a study shows that at least during working hours, the use of smartphones does not have much effect on relieving boring. Although people become more boring and the use of mobile phones is increasing, it will also cause reaction: people are more boring at the beginning after using smartphones.

This may be due to the transfer of attention from work to mobile phones that consume our spiritual resources, and the reward using mobile phones cannot offset additional cognitive load. In other words, watching mobile phones can emphasize how boring the task we try to escape. Whatever the situation, the results indicate that playing mobile phones may not be a way to alleviate boring.

2. Re -build your way of thinking about boring

No one really likes boring. However, you should not take boredom as a bitter thing, but should treat it as an opportunity to reflect, which may make boring more tolerable.

In 2016, Tim Lomas from the University of East London deliberately made himself bored in a long -distance flight. Then in the next hour, he was recording his thoughts and feelings every minute. He said very poetically his thoughts, "New ideas appear involuntarily like a fish appear in the ocean", describing "how interesting, elusive and strange thoughts are like a vague and short dance." His conclusion is that if people see boring as a meditation experience, no one may give it a negative evaluation. Even in some people's hearts, it may no longer be boring. Professor John Eastwood of the University of York also believes that boring provides an opportunity to help us discover infinite possibilities.

Therefore, by changing the way of mind, you can turn your boredom into a more positive meaning.

3. Do some creative things

In a 2014 study, Sandi Mann and Rebekah Cadman from the Central Lan Kaixia University found that boring actually increased creativity.

In their research, the participants were asked to write some novel things, or do some uniform boring things (such as copying numbers from the phone book). Then all participants need to complete a creative task: try to use as much as possible for the two plastic cups. And those participants who do many tedious things are far more useful than those who are under boring conditions.

Therefore, letting go of your creativity is not only a way to get rid of boring, but boring itself may also improve your creativity.

4. Nostalgic

At this moment, many of us may miss the life before the epidemic. Can focusing on this nostalgia also help us get rid of boring?

In a papers published in "Emotion" in 2013, the participants were first asked to copy two or ten texts about concrete mixtures, which was induced to enter a high or low boring state. Then they need to think of a nostalgic memory. Those who are in a high degree of annoying state before the incidents who recall the past are more missed than those who are in a low state of boredom. A follow -up experiment also found that nostalgia can actually offset the boring effects and create a new meaning in people's lives.

Boring is often accompanied by a continuous sense of emptiness. Therefore, re -identifying itself as a meaningful goal may be helpful to alleviate boring, and the way to achieve this can be through the meaningful time of the past.

5. Wandering your thoughts

Thinking is not always a positive activity, especially when you try to complete an important task: In our usual understanding, thinking freely is related to poor reading comprehension skills and poor memory.

However, if you feel bored, you can provide you with some relief. According to a review of a literature, the departure of thinking can make those boring tasks feel shorter, help us get rid of the boring environment, and improve our emotions when we do some boring things. Moreover, because the departure of thinking is also related to the ability to improve creativity and problem solving, it also has other potential benefits. Via: Instagram.com

6. Positive problem solving

School homework may be the main reason why we feel bored -who has not been sitting in a hated class, watching the experience of slowly passing? Fortunately, this also made the school a good place for scientists to study boring. In 2011, a research team deeply explored various ways to deal with boring. Two of them were to avoid (do things that had nothing to do with boring situations) and respond positively (do something actively changing the boring situation itself).

Researchers divide students' response to boring mathematics lessons into three categories.

"Re -evaluator" tries to think about the value of mathematics, so as to change their views on mathematics lessons to deal with boring;

"Critics" tries to improve boring by making changes to the teacher;

"Escape" tried to avoid boring by turning attention to other things.

The "re -evaluator" group has the least boring situation, and has experienced the most active results in terms of emotions and motivations: they prefer mathematics, the lowest degree of anxiety. Just as Tim Lomas's research also shows that re -thinking about the actual meaning of boring, rather than trying to avoid it completely, it may be the best way to improve boring.
