After the Qing Dynasty, most of the Hui people who business came from Zhangye, Jiuquan, Guanghe, Linxia and other places settled here, and gradually formed one of the Lanzhou Huimin settlements, and it also formed today's "Xunhe along the ancient temple".

On August 4, 1942, a heavy rain allowed the alleys to accumulate water over the knees, and the rain even poured into the resident's home. In order to solve this problem, the municipal government had allocated 42,300 yuan for dredging water pits and dredging the drainage canal. From then on, the alley got rid of the reputation of the "stinky river" and was renamed "Xiuhe Pian".
