The Dunhuang testament database is officially launched

This is the first time that the Dunhuang Research Institute has released the most complete Dunhuang testament information to the world.

The Dunhuang testament database is a global Dunhuang literature resource sharing platform. The content includes the basic information, digital images, full -text records, and related research literature catalogs of Dunhuang literature. The database also provides full text retrieval and graphic browsing of Chinese and Tibetan literature.

The Dunhuang testament, also known as the Dunhuang literature, Dunhuang documents, and Dunhuang writing books. It is a general term for discovered literature unearthed in the Mogao Caves of Dunhuang in 1900. It mainly includes ancient writing and prints from the 4th century AD to the 11th century. China, Central Asia, East Asia, and South Asia related history, archeology, religion, anthropology, linguistics and other fields. Due to the weakening of the national strength of the late Qing Dynasty, the cultural relics unearthed from the Tibetan Scripture Cave were scattered around the world. At present, the Dunhuang testament is hidden in dozens of collectors in China, Britain, France, Russia, Japan and other countries, and has always lacked a complete joint catalog.

In 2012, the "Construction of Dunhuang Restaurant Database" led by the National Social Science Fund's major project led by the Dunhuang Research Institute. The project aims to use modern digital technology to digitize the Dunhuang testament, organize and collect the resource information of the Dunhuang testament in various places, establish a complete general database of the Dunhuang testament information resources, and provide a complete Dunhuang testament data for the global academic community.

Made, a research librarian of the Dunhuang Research Institute, served as the chief expert of the project, and jointly established a research team with Professor Xu Duanqing of the School of Computer Science and Technology of Zhejiang University. After years of exploration, the team has developed the Dunhuang testament database software system that supports the enrollment, retrieval and browsing, and output functions of Dunhuang's testament, and has carried out research on Dunhuang's suicide technical research, realizing the related search function of the Dunhuang testament remnants. In May 2021, the project successfully passed the review.

The formal launch of the Dunhuang testament database is an important measure for the Dunhuang Research Institute to build the Dunhuang Studies Highlands and promote the regression of the digital regression of Dunhuang cultural relics.

At present, the Dunhuang Research Institute is supplementing and improving the relevant data of the Dunhuang literature in France in accordance with the cooperation agreement with the National Library of France, and conducting a full -text record and included in the Han and Tibetan literature. In the future, the Dunhuang Research Institute will promote the publication of the full color printing "The Complete Works of Dunhuang Literature", and continue to comprehensively organize and collect the Dunhuang Tibetan Scripture Cave Documents around the world, and provide convenient Dunhuang literature data for scholars and enthusiasts around the world. bdfgh.
