If you are a movie enthusiast, when you look at "Harvard's New Chinese Modern Literature History", you will encounter a lot of familiar names: Fei Mu, Hou Xiaoxian, Li An, Wang Jiawei ... Literature and movies are doubles The same is true in the history of modern Chinese literature.
In 2018, the 99 -year -old Liu Yizheng died. Wang Jiawei quoted a sentence in "Acts" on Weibo and remembered Liu Yizheng: All memories were humid. This sentence also appeared at the beginning of the movie "2046".
Speaking of Hong Kong literature, Liu Yizheng, Shanghai was born, and Hong Kong wrote. He is two years older than Zhang Ailing, but the Dabai is late. In his more than 50 years of editing career, he discovered and cultivated many literary newcomers. As a writer, Liu Yizheng's writing style has also affected generations of creators.
Wang Jiawei also said: "It is the most happy thing to let the world know and know that Hong Kong had had such writers such as Liu Yizheng."
Liu Yizheng was a stamp fan since he was a child. In 1972, he got a double company in the auction of "Ci Shou Jiu Silin against the old ticket". "Delivery" refers to the two -losing double stamps. Such stamps must be connected to be valuable. Once separate, it becomes just like ordinary stamps.
The cover of "Pour" is the backpack that Liu Yizheng bought
Many years later, Wang Jiawei visited Liu Yizheng in the "Hong Kong Literature" magazine after watting "Acts". this story. Liu Yizheng, who was dragged to the set several times by Wang Jiawei, recalled at the age of 95: "When they filmed, I once told me to see the situation. In fact, I wanted Liang Chaowei to see what Liu Yizheng he played."
There are three subtitles in "Fantastic Year" quoted from "Fold":
相 That is embarrassing. She kept her head ashamed and gave him a chance. He didn't have the courage to approach. She turned around and left.
。 That era has passed. Everything that belongs to that era no longer exists.
岁 Those years of disappearing, as if a glass of dust accumulated, can be seen and caught. He has been missing everything in the past. If he can break the glass with dust, he will go back to the years of disappearing.
Wang Jiawei wrote: "For me, T Te-Bêche is not only a noun or a way to write novels, it can also be the language of the movie, it is light and color, sound and picture staggered.
Tête-Beche can even be staggered by time. A novel published in 1972, a movie released in 2000, staggered into a 1960 story. "

Liu Yizheng's novel "Placing" is serialized in "Sing Tao Evening News".

"Belly" and "Fantastic Year"

"Those years of disappearing, as if a glass of dust accumulated, can be seen, can't catch it."
A man left the editor room around 5 pm and went to the bus to Central. He often has dinner there. A woman waited at a bus stop outside several streets. The bus stopped in front of him, and the man waved his hand. She smiled, got on the bus, and walked towards him.
The above is not the movie bridge, but the daily life of Liu Yizheng in the 1970s. The old couples are happy to share their old days with researchers.
Liu Yizheng (1919-2018) is regarded as one of the most important contributors of Hong Kong's modernist literature in the 1950s and 1960s. The above -mentioned daily clips -the seemingly stingy men and women on the bus echo the opening of the novel "Passion". The novel was serialized from 1972 to 1973. At that time, taking a bus was part of Liu Yizheng's daily life. In the 1970s, Hong Kong's rapid urbanization inspired Liu Yizheng's inspiration. He wanted to depict a new sense of perception in interpersonal communication.
"They write on the island: 1918" Liu Yizheng couple
In August 1972, the first submarine tunnel was completed, and a few months later published "Passion". People no longer take a slow but idle ferry to cross the sea, but choose to cross the sea. The liquidity of Hong Kong residents has increased significantly, and the psychological distance between people seems to be closer, but it may not necessarily deepen each other.
"Belly" can be regarded as a city roaming, and the wrong body between the protagonist. Unexpectedly, 28 years later, the seeds under this literary experiment opened the most beautiful flowers in Hong Kong movies.
In the 21st century, the director Wang Jiawei (1958-), who has won the award, launched a new work "Fantastic Year" (2000). This film is regarded as a masterpiece of the Hong Kong film milestone. Liang Chaowei (1962-), who plays the actor Mr. Zhou, won the award at the Best Actor of the Cannes Film Festival.
During the Hong Kong premiere of "Fantastic Year", Liu Yizheng sat quietly in the auditorium and waited for the movie to open. The lights are dark. The film first broadcasts a paragraph of "Folding", and the two longer selections are presented in the interval. The film ended with poetic contemplative in the novel: "Those years of disappearing, as if a glass of dust accumulated, can be seen, can't catch it."
Liu Yizheng's name appeared at the end of the film, and the director paid tribute to him. However, "Fantastic Year" is not adapted from "Passion", and the plot and time and space background are completely different. The relationship between the two is so ambiguous and so delicate. In the same year, Wang Jiawei published "Falling": "Fantastic Year" photo collection "(2000). The book includes the English translation of" Fold "and Liu Yizheng's interview. Wang Jiawei explained his source of inspiration in preface. "T-te-Bêche) means the intersection of time, the intercourse between the novel in 1972 and the 2000 movie.
"They write on the island: 1918" Liu Yizheng
More specifically, at the same time, it is also referred to as the dual -link stamps, which is a term of philatelic. In 1972, Liu Yizheng, a professional philatelic, bought a pair of stamps in the London auction. This rare stamp was interesting, inspired him to write a novel, and the plot surrounded a concert of a pair of men and women. There are two versions of the novel long and short stories. The novels are serialized in the Sing Tao Evening News from November 18, 1972 to March 12, 1973. In 1975, the author rewritten 120,000 words to short stories of the same name and published it in literature. Magazine "Four Seasons".
Liu Yizheng is a modernist writer who strives to pursue formal purity. The novel "Acts" (1963) is an outstanding representative written by the post -war Chinese literature circles. "Bai" has no traditional plot, and the form itself is the meaning of the text. The encounter between the protagonist Chun Yubai and Yaxing did not develop the actual relationship. The background of the novel was set when the Hong Kong Underwater Tunnel was just opened to traffic in the 1970s.
The actor Chun Yubai was a Shanghai from Hong Kong who moved to Hong Kong 20 years ago. He sinks in the past and ignored the participation of Hong Kong's reality. Yaxing is a native Hong Kong girl, with unrealistic dreams. The two lived in the same city, but walked on a parallel but opposite road, one pointed to the past, and the other was not willing to face reality.
In order to express the fate of the two protagonists who live in the same place, the novel is carried out in a parallel method of dual -line alternation -the odd number chapters write Chun Yubai, and the even chapters write about the stories of the two. They went to the same place and met the same people, but the roads of each other never crossed each other. They are all strange roamers in the city and do not know the existence of each other.
It is this corresponding structure that leads us to the subtle feature of "Fantastic Year", which is derived from the novel.
Someone noticed that at the beginning of the movie, the plot of Mrs. Chen and Mr. Zhou at the same time echoed the structure of "Fold". The two did not know, but at the same time they looked for the house and became neighbors. The scheduling of the movie scene also secretly echoed the dual -line alternate structure of the novel. Wonton noodle stalls are a good example. The lens is presented in slow motion, and it is equipped with a strong color tone and rendering emotions.
Mrs. Chen and Mr. Zhou often dine alone in this stall, sometimes passing by in narrow alleys. Mrs. Chen went up, and Mr. Zhou went down -the embarrassing but romantic intimate moments in the urban space, but the loneliness in the city runs through this scene from beginning to end.
The love between Mrs. Chen and Mr. Zhou can be regarded as a kind of emotional projection of their spouse derailment. Although the so -called derailment is actually just a role played by the two people. The ultimate breakup of the lover was because they couldn't bear to be inferior to their spouses.
At the end of the film, the two met again. The film shows depression with a special editing method. In the middle scene, Mr. Zhou stood on the corridor outside the old apartment and looked at Mrs. Chen in the apartment. His slight expression on his face showed that he could see her. He walked to the door and stopped, and finally did not knock on her door. At this time, the camera turned to Mrs. Chen in the apartment, and she was preparing to go out with her son. Then the camera was cut back to the outside corridor, and Mr. Zhou had left. The two never appeared in the same shot, implying this subtle situation.
In Wang Jiawei's expression, this scene is not to highlight Mr. Zhou's nostalgia for the love of the passing, but the pain and tenderness of the continuity of love.
In psychological narrative, you can find another subtle relationship between "Fall" and "Fantastic Year". "Bai" uses a third person's narrative to bring out the sense of alienation of the character with a conscious way. Chun Yubai and Yaxing are both "silent" characters, and the communication between the two is not dialogue. There are also a lot of silence in "Fantastic Year".
The inner monologue is the characteristic of Wang Jiawei's movie. "A Fei" (1990), "Chongqing Forest" (1994), and "East Evil Poison" (1994) all have this characteristic. Surprisingly, "Fantastic Year" is completely absent. Mr. Zhou and Mrs. Chen are in traditional families who are depressed, and they also bring masks when they express their love. The lack of film monologue makes people more appreciate the inner depression of the protagonist of Hong Kong in the 1960s.
The emotional foundation of "Belly" and "Fantastic Year" is completely different. "Belly" is calm and organized, and "Fantastic Year" is passionate and gorgeous. The former is modernist novels, and the latter is an art film in commercial movies. "Fantastic Year" was called "Avant-Pop Cinema" by David Bordwell (1947-), which was reinterpreted by the old Hong Kong before the "June 7 Riot" after the return of Hong Kong in 1997. Most of the circumstances occurred in the first half of the 1960s with a relatively stable political and social situation. Someone criticized Mrs. Chen who worked as an ordinary secretary, and her clothes were too gorgeous and inconsistent. This setting is completely from the perspective of the box office guarantee of commercial movies, and it is normal to understand. From an artistic perspective, we cannot regard "Fantastic Year" as the truthful portrayal of Hong Kong in the 1960s. The complicated and exquisite cheongsam, the gorgeous interior layout, the close -up lens of the character's lower body, is proved the director's subjective perspective.
When Liu Yizheng wrote "Passion", the Hong Kong economy entered a rapid growth period. The role of the character in the book refuses to "live in the present" life, allowing readers to review that era again. It seems that as long as we are willing, historical reality is sensible.
On the contrary, "Fantastic Year" shows a frame of gorgeous desolation. The speakers always try to find possible metaphors from Wang Jiawei's work. In this context, my interpretation is: "Fantastic Year" is a good memory of the past when Hong Kong facing a future.
What is meaningful is that those passing years seem to be seen by a glass of dust, which can be seen and caught.
