This illustration is from the children's reading "Hangtou Peter" published in 1845. The author is a German psychiatrist and writer Heinrich Hofman.

Before the First World War, "Hugou Peter" was a child reading in the printed volume second only to "Green Fairy". Even the American Big Wing Mark Twain also liked this book very much, and translated it in English in person.

However, Hoffman's creation of this book was actually accidental. On Christmas Eve in 1844, he came to the bookstore and wanted to choose a children's reading as a Christmas gift for his son. But he couldn't pick up his satisfaction. So, he simply ran home and drawn a storytelling story book with his own hands, which is this "Hanging Peter".

The protagonist Peter was a hunter. He originally took a gun to kill the rabbit. As a result, because of carelessness, the gun was stolen by the smart rabbit, and in turn chased Peter with a gun, scaring Peter to fall into the well. This is a story full of imagination, which is loved by children.

The "House Peter", which was created by Hobman for a while, has now been translated into more than 40 languages. It has been sold in the world for more than 100 years. It is considered the originator of modern children's painting stories.
