Academician Zhu Min team of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Ancient Human Research Institute uses high -precision computer fault scanning (MicroCT) technology to rebuild the scales preserved by Xitun's deputy Yunnan fish positive mold. Three -dimensional form of scales.
Related research results are recently published in Elife.
One of the most significant features of fish is the scales covered by the body surface, and the scales and scale columns are classified to classify fossil fish. It is important to speculate that the body structure, lifestyle and each other's relationship.

The turtle is one of the earliest paleontological groups known to the scientific community.
Beginning in the second half of the last century, primitive turtles such as Yunnan fish discovered in my country set off a new wave of research, but it was not until the 1990s that my country discovered that the complete Yunnan fish specimen -Xitun Vice Yunnan fish.
Because of its primitive and complete, the vice -Yunnan fish of about 410 million years ago became a key part of revealing the evolutionary sequence of mandibular vertebrates in the early days.
The results of the Xitun Vice Yunnan fish fossil scanning show the complete scales of the most primitive jaw vertebrate.
Its dorsal and tail fins are completely covered with thick membrane scales. The scales are quite different from the different degrees, and complex regional differentiation.
The same individual scales show great diversity in the morphological characteristics of the contour, the surface of the membrane, the proportion of the crown, the pressure method, and the size.
Xitun Vice Yunnan Fish not only became the most important "window" of the latter pattern of the ancestral scales of the jaw vertebrate, but its complete scales were listed as the research of scale micro fossils.
