In order to improve the transparency of journal publishing, we are sharing more detailed indicators with unprecedented efforts.

Hindawi is glad to bring you a new Journal Reports. These reports were developed with DataSalon to show Hindawi a series of journal indicators. Through these indicators, you will understand the different publishing services we provide for our journals. With more detailed data, we will help researchers, partners and scientific research fund funders to further understand our workflow (from submission to peer review to final publication and other links, thereby unveiling the mystery of our journal. We will also further introduce those services with relatively low attention, including how we help improve the fairness of the publishing process, how to help improve the acquisition and discovery of the papers.

This is our first journal report. You can obtain it publicly from the "See Full Report" (viewing the complete report) link from the journal indicators of each journal homepage. The first phase of the new journal report provides a more in -depth view of the receiving rate and the time editing decision, including the median time of the peer review and the number of times of the review of each article. In addition to traditional indicators such as reference and article reading, these reports also provide the geographical distribution of authors, editors and reviewers.

The last part includes indicator information about metadata openability (such as abstract and reference to Crossref), machine readability of content, and the use of long -lasting identifiers (such as orcid). In addition, this part will show the degree of abstract and reference opening.

Hindawi supports the initiative of the Open Reference Initiative (I4OC), and it is also one of the initiatives of the Open Summary Initiative (I4OA). Our metadata has the characteristics of machine readability and opening up. Therefore, our published papers are better than those who have not opened such information. Supporting open -acquired platforms and architecture is also an important part of open science.

By sharing this information, Hindawi hopes to help researchers make more wise decisions when choosing a journal that publish articles, rather than relying on limited and often problematic indicators. For example It is controlled by Western countries). We hope to provide some necessary services for researchers who are open science. Although the importance of these services is increasing day by day, its attention has not been valued as well as traditional indicators, such as the readability of machines; in addition, we will also show the openness of references and abstracts; and how we use unified identification tools to ensure that we ensure that we ensure that we can use unified identification tools to ensure Different research results can maintain digitization. At the moment when scientific and publishing the trusted dependence, we hope to improve its trustworthiness through openness.

With the support of the "San Francisco Scientific Research Evaluation Declaration", our journal reports will help us carry out journals in a scientific manner. DORA has been released for ten years, setting an important principle for the responsible scientific research evaluation -where should not publish papers to evaluate researchers. DORA has now developed into an international organization that is committed to guiding and actively promoting the "need to improve the evaluation of academic research results" and provides resources for these improvement measures. In addition, there are many other similar initiatives, such as the Towards A Reform of the Research Assessment System of the International Research and Management Society Network (Inorms) and the European Commission. We hope that our new report can help this change.

In addition, at the beginning of our production journal report, Hindawi also participated in the price and service transparency pilot project organized by the Coalition S as a member. According to the project requirements, we need to publish relevant data on different aspects of our workflow (such as the "preliminary review decision" time or the number of peer review reports of each papers) and disclose our pricing plan structure. At present, this framework has become part of the Journal Comparison Service (for libraries) and Journal Checker Tool (for researchers). So why not provide these data to everyone?

This is our current work, because Hindawi is committed to adopting evidence -based publishing methods, which is also the fundamental purpose of open science. However, collecting these data to one place and keeping our internal and external reports in coordination requires a lot of time. Therefore, we still have a long way to go.

Mathias Astell, chief journal development officer of hindawi, said:

Mathias Astell

""

These reports marked an important step in increasing the performance of journals and constituting transparency, helping researchers, institutions, fund providers and publishing partners to understand the value provided by the journal. We believe that the geographical distribution of the geographical distribution with our journals (related researchers) will help start to amend the historical prejudice in the historical publication. We also believe that public sharing indicators that have practical impact on the author's experience are essential to get rid of traditional evaluation journals. This is the first iteration of our new report, and the planned future stage will further improve transparency and openness. "

The purpose of Hindawi is to gradually decompose and share our different service data. We aim to open the "black box" of academic publishing and let it undergo an independent review. Increasing the transparency and cooperation of our workflow, it can also promote innovation in the field of publishing, and provide further support for researchers, scientific research fund funders and institutions embracing open science.
