On June 24, 2022, the Fifth World Science and Technology Journal Forum hosted by the China Science and Technology Association and the Hunan Provincial People's Government opened in Changsha. Sciopen, an international digital publishing platform independently developed by Tsinghua University Press, officially released at the opening ceremony of this forum.

At the release ceremony, Liu Xingping, Minister of Science and Technology Innovation of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology, Li Yong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Tsinghua University Press, brightened the big screen together and announced that Sciopen was officially launched. As a digital publishing platform for modern science and technology journals, it has become a bottleneck problem restricting the innovation and development of my country's science and technology journal publishing industry. According to statistics, more than 90%of my country's English science and technology journals relied on foreign publishing platforms. In June 2019, the Chinese Association of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Propaganda, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Science and Technology jointly issued the "Opinions on Deepening the Reform and Cultivation of World -class Science and Technology Journal". In September of the same year, the seven departments of the China Science and Technology Association and other seven departments launched the implementation of the "China Science and Technology Journal Excellent Action Plan". In addition to the journal construction project, the plan was established for the first time, and the international digital publishing service platform project was established for the first time. Tsinghua University Press successfully won one of the three sub -projects of the project -the digital communication international platform service project of science and technology journals. After that, with the support of the project and Tsinghua University, Tsinghua University Press organized relevant experts and technical forces to design, demonstrate, develop, optimize the platform, and launched it in April 2022. The platform integrates the rich international and journal experience of Tsinghua University Publishing House, takes into account the development needs and user experience of the journal, and supports digital production, all -media release, international communication and journal operation data analysis. Digital production, release and dissemination of science and technology journals. As of now, SCIopen has launched more than 30 English journals and more than 9,000 articles to achieve successfully connecting with international common search engines, publishing standardized organizations, and important academic index databases, and operate well.

According to reports, the platform adopts advanced technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence to support new publishing models such as enhancement and data publishing, and provides knowledge service functions such as intelligent recommendation, academic portraits, knowledge maps, and scientific research trends.
