"I am Adidas, I sued Nike!"

On June 15, local time, Adidas filed an infringement lawsuit against Nike in the Federal Region Court of East District, USA. The reporter learned from the lawsuit that Adidas accused Nike infringe on nine patents in many fields such as sports shoes and mobile applications.

Adidas pointed out in the lawsuit that Nike's multiple fitness mobile phone applications were suspected of patent infringement. Patent involves audio feedback, GPS positioning, training plan, heart rate monitoring and other fields. Adidas also pointed out that the ordering system of Nike's limited edition sports shoes was also suspected of infringement. Adidas said Nike's SNKRS application was suspected of infringing the ConfirmEd application launched by Adidas in 2015, which allows users to access its brand in the APP.

Adidas also stated in the lawsuit that Nike infringed its technology on adjustable shoes. Adidas said that adjustable shoes can perceive and adjust the comfort of the shoes when wearing. Adidas claimed Nike's Adapt shoes that violated Adidas' patents.

Before Nike and Adidas had repeatedly occurred in the patent field. In December 2021, Nike filed a lawsuit against Adidas at the Oregon and the US International Trade Commission, accusing Adidas invading Nike's Flyknit sneakers design patent. As early as 2005, Nike also accused Adidas violated two patents about sneakers.

Adidas said the company is seeking losses and court ban to prevent Nike from "direct or indirect violations of one or more" patents involved. Some American media pointed out that because the positioning and other functions involved in the patent are widely used in the fitness APP, the lawsuit may have a significant impact on the future of the fitness app.
