An international standard led by the Chinese Academy of Electrical Sciences is approved for approval

Recently, it is learned from China Institute of Electric Power Sciences that the international standard IEEE P3197 "Guide for Data Transmission Interface of Smart Meters" led by the institute's international standard IEEE P3197 " Through the formal approval. This standard is the first international standard for the IEEE that leads the establishment of the communication protocols in terms of automatic metering and energy management, which is of great significance to improving my country's international competitiveness and discourse power in the collection of instrument and sensor data.

With the rapid development of smart grids, the intelligent power meter has accelerated. Smart electric power meters use various data transmission units on a large scale to achieve data collection and control operations. At present, there are no common standards at home and abroad to regulate the interaction between intelligent power meters and data transmission units. In addition, equipment manufacturers have invested a large number of design and production costs in order to compatible multiple types of data transmission units. Therefore, the formulation of common specifications to guide the interactive design, production, integration and application of the intelligent power meter and data transmission unit is imminent.

Since 2016, the Chinese Academy of Electrical Sciences has conducted in -depth research on interface adaptation communication protocols between the intelligent power meter and the data transmission unit, laying a foundation for the IEEE standard. In March of this year, the hospital submitted a standard proposal to IEEE, and was finally approved by the IEEE -related standard management agency. Experts from the Chinese Academy of Electricity Sciences will serve as the convener of the Standard Working Group to organize standard preparation work and plan to complete the standard preparation in October 2024.
