Really transforming research results in scientific research into actual social applications is the original intention and wish of Yu Hongyu, the dean of the Shenzhen -Hong Kong University of Science and Technology of China.
He has been dealing with integrated circuit devices for more than 20 years. After returning to China, he has developed the third -generation wide -band semiconductor technology research and development of Nito -nitrogen (GAN). He hopes to achieve deep integration of industry -university -research and contribute to the current demand for the country.

In the 1990s, Yu Hongyu was admitted to Tsinghua University and spent 5 years in the Department of Materials Science Engineering for 5 years. At that time, the slogan "Striving for at least 50 years for the health of the motherland" in the campus broadcast left a deep impression on him. At that time, Yu Hongyu believed that engineering disciplines were a practical discipline that could transform research results into practical. When he graduated from Tsinghua University in 1999, Yu Hongyu chose to go abroad for further studies. He has obtained a master's degree and doctoral degree in the University of Toronto and the National University of Singapore. Subsequently, he went to the world -renowned Micro -Narna Electronics R & D Center (IMEC) of Ruawn, Belgium as senior researcher and project leader. Since 2008, Yu Hongyu has been a "Nanyang" assistant professor at Nanyang University of Science and Technology in Singapore. He has been deeply cultivating in the field of microelectronics while studying overseas, and then chose to return to the motherland of his mind. In 2011, Yu Hongyu joined the Southern University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as "Nanda University"), who was just established, and became the first orthodox professor signed by the University of Science and Technology.
At that time, everything in Nanda University was still in launch. Yu Hongyu joined the micro -nano material and device department, and then joined the electronic department. From the professional curriculum setting and training system to the teacher team, Yu Hongyu and his colleagues started the foundation of the Microelectronics major of South Science and Technology from scratch.
In scientific research, after Yu Hongyu returned to China, he led the research team to focus on the development of Nitrogen Moisturizing (GAN) power devices. In the past two years, he started developing silicon -based GAN radio frequency devices. In terms of research on aluminum nitrogen/nitrogen -nitrogen -nitrogen -nitrogen high -electron migration, he has made a series of progress that has attracted much attention from the industry. Several related results were published in the IEEE Electron Device Letters of the international microelectronics device.
In addition, Yu Hongyu also has another important cause to build a national demonstration microelectronics academy -Shenzhen -Hong Kong Microelectronics Academy.
"It's completely like entrepreneurship." Yu Hongyu recalled. As the main person in charge of the establishment of the Shenzhen -Hong Kong Microelectronics Academy, every detail at the beginning of his work is vividly. The most memorable is the day when he was approved by the National Microelectronics Academy in January 2019. "The speed is fast. I got the brand of the National Demonstration Microelectronics Academy in three or four months.
The expectations of the expert group of the Ministry of Education for the Shenzhen -Hong Kong Microelectronics Academy is a model of the National Demonstration Microelectronics Academy in the next 5 to 10 years, becoming the first echelon of the Microelectronics Academy. "I am very confident to make the Microelectronics Academy first -class and even move towards the world." Yu Hongyu said.
Three years passed by. Now, the Shenzhen -Hong Kong Microelectronics Academy has a first -class scientific research platform -micro -nanoleum process research and development platform and IC design and test platform, focusing on integrated circuit design methodology, integrated circuit chip design, and integrated circuit manufacturing Scientific research with four major research directions with craftsmanship, micro -nanoleum system and integration, and has obtained a number of national and provincial and municipal qualifications in the field of scientific research, including the National Demonstration of Microelectronics, Guangdong GAN Institutional Engineering Technology Research Center, Guangdong Province 3D Integrated Engineering Research Center and the key laboratory of the third -generation semiconductor device in Shenzhen.
At present, the global semiconductor industry pattern is undergoing profound changes. After the Moore era, the semiconductor technology has accelerated the reform and innovation. The development of my country's integrated circuit industry has ushered in new opportunities and has also ushered in many challenges. Although this road is far away, Yu Hongyu believes that in the future, he can see that China has a relatively complete integrated circuit industry chain, and he will definitely insist on the day when the goal is achieved.
