Sustainable development Satellite Observation Alliance is established to provide data support for global sustainable development.

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, September 7th (Zhang Quan, Chen Jiawei) At the opening ceremony of the 2022 Sustainable Development Big Data International Forum held recently, the sustainable development satellite observation alliance jointly launched by 7 units in my country was officially established. Give full play to the advantages and potential of space on ground observation, and provide data services and scientific and technological support for the implementation of the UN 2030 ADC.

These 7 units are: Sustainable Development Big Data International Research Center, Satellite Environmental Application Center of the Ministry of Ecological Environment, China Resource Satellite Application Center, National Satellite Ocean Application Center, National Satellite Meteorological Center, Ministry of Natural Resources Land and Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center, and National State Aerospace Observation and Data Center.

Academician Guo Huadong, director of the International Research Center of the Sustainable Development Big Data, introduced that the United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda of 2030 proposed 17 sustainable development goals, involving the elimination of poverty, elimination of hunger, ecological system protection, and improvement of the living environment. A large amount of data obtained by space -to -ground observations is of great significance for the implementation of sustainable development target monitoring, evaluation and scientific research, and then help the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development AD implementation.

According to reports, the Sustainable Development Satellite Observation Alliance is a scientific research and technological innovation group of public welfare and academicity. It will provide services to institutions engaged in sustainable development related work worldwide under the framework of the United Nations sustainable development technology promotion mechanism.

The alliance will make full use of the data needs of the global sustainable development target index system, make full use of the alliance members and related satellite observation data sources, produce a variety of types and multi -scale data products, and build a satellite observation data product evaluation system to ensure the quality of data services.

The Sustainable Development Big Data International Forum in 2022 was sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and aims to promote the application of digital technology in the global sustainable development. The forum has a total of 8 conference reports, 57 parallel meetings, more than 300 oral reports, and 12 "Digital Silk Road" international science plan special conferences.
